  1. I was mostly unvaccinated as a child. Not bc of my mom thinking any of the myths, but bc I was almost one of the 2 in 10 that die from a tetorifice shot. I had an anaphylactic response when I was a baby. So my mom was so scared she only opted to give me the oral polio. (She had polio as a child). Later when I was 15 they thought that I should get a tetorifice booster. She said that the doctors told her that my earlier reaction was to the pertussis most likely. Nope. I had hives everywhere! I am now fully vaccinated (my own doing) except for the Tdap shot. I was unaware that I had NO immunizations except for polio until I started nursing school. I don't blame my mom for her decision. (God rest her soul). She was just a scared mother. Sometimes it's not that people believe these myths it's that something scary has happened and now they are scared of what will happen in the future. Fear is a powerful thing.
  2. Thank you. I am looking into ISU. Just nervous about those 4 exams you have to take. I think I may have to go through the college network after all. I have to buy the study guides anyway. I have a lot of schooling done and my TEAS test completed as well. I took it before I did the current LPN program I am in currently. So I hope they take a lot of credits from Ivy tech. :)
  3. Can someone give a list of LPN to BSN programs that are online?? I'm one of 13 people who need an online program and so far the only one I see is ISU and excelsior. Not a fan of Excelsior though.
  4. Unicbabe can you tell me how to study for the four tests you have to take? I need more info in ISU. I am currently in an LPN program. I graduate in June. If like to get rolling on my RN ASAP after that. :) thanks.
  5. I am a CNA. I think it is helpful. I am also a student nurse and it's helped me to know what ask of my staff when I become a nurse. It also helps to know what is a good workload for one aid and if I am asking too much of them. I hope this makes sense. :) I also know that it helped me with my fundamentals class.
  6. I currently know 1 person in the me drench program and she loves it. I personally would stick with IUPUI only bc it's hard to find a transition program for RN if you want to be a RN anyway. The hospital just laid off all the LPNs so that's why I am looking for an RN-BSN school.
  7. Yes the last class is going to graduate in December 2014. I am in the second to last class. It is sad bc so many people loved this program bc it was small and it didn't have a lot of people in it.
  8. Hey all. Looking for a program for LPN-BSN in Indiana. I have heard of Excelsior and the College Network. Any others that are awesome programs that anyone could tell me about??
  9. You cannot apply to JEL anymore. They've decided after 40 years to close the LPN program. They are trying to fight to stay open but the first semester class is the last class that will graduate from the LPN program.
  10. Good job!! I am in second semester! Good luck to you!
  11. Where I work they hire RNs at $30 an hour. It's LTC.
  12. Awesome!! They tell everyone to not work. They want you to be successful in school. I am working 1 day a week and pickup weekend shifts here and there and I have 5 boys ranging from 4-16. If I can do this so can you:) I have an advantage of knowing some of this stuff already. I have taken dosage calc, medical law and ethics, and anatomy at ivy tech. So these 1st semester classes are not that hard.
  13. I go to JEL. I am 1st semester. You can work and do the program. Especially if you have taken anatomy and know math well. I only have to take pharm, fundamentals, math, and contemporary. I do not have to take anatomy bc I received a credit for it bc I took it within the last 2 years at Ivy tech. I work 1 day and pick up shifts here and there. You can work. Many of my classmates do. I chose not to continue full time bc I have children too.
  14. Man:: "mommy save me! That bad lady has a needle " Nurse:: " quit being a baby! You'd think it was a filter needle!"
