I live in Colorado and I am the Critical Clinical Nurse Specialist for a 200 bed hospital. I LOVE my job my areas of responsibility are ICU (20 bed mixed unit), Telemetry, Cath Lab, PCU and ED. I do some education but mostly I guide practice by implementing evidence based practice, revising and constructing policy and protocol, I gather, evaluate and report data on patient outcomes, I head up the resusitation committee and the critical care council. I also round in the ICU, work one on one with the RN's , patients and families around the plan of care, outcomes and revisions. It is a great job and I am very lucky to have it. :):):)

If you would not mind could you tell me what was "sketchy" about my previous post?

REALLY ? REALLY!? saying something good about DSN is sketchy? I am not being sketchy or mean or deceitful or disrespectful I just thought I would post something. I never thought I would have to defend my self about things that were perceived to happen four years ago. Sorry, I did not mean to open a can of worms just wanted to communicate.....my error I guess.

All explaination was taken care of with the webmaster. If YOU really need an explanation you could email me but I think things that transpired 4 years ago are insignificant in the present and I believe in living in the present. It is interesting that there are folks who want to prove someone wrong or at fault especially. As Jeannette Blair the founder and owner of DSN used to say "don't fix blame fix the problem instead" . So I am moving forward. I have nothing but good to say about DSN , the leadership and staff there.

As was discussed 3 years ago my daughter (who at that time was 20 and a student at DSN) were using the same allnurses ID and unfortunately did not realize the confusion that that would ultimately cause. I had email discussion with the webmaster and it was cleared up. So anyway I was just trying to communicate on allnurses with me alone using this ID. I'm not 52 anymore....gone are thoses days do I get in troulbe or on the firing line because I did not update my profile?

I came on board at the beginning wrote and designed curriculum, hired the faculty, welcomed the first BSN students, got program approval from the State Board of Nursing for the school and lots of other things. It was a big exciting job and I think I did it well and I am proud of my time there. I was glad to see my good friend Dr. Becky Lynch take over where I left off. Anyway I left there to get back to nursing practice. I had been an academic for 15 years and yearned to get back to the practice of being a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Critical Care (which I am doing now) and be a "real nurse " again. Did dsn ever get accredited?

As always the folks on allnurses.com are great. He does indeed have ACM. He will have surgery tomorrow. I am going to be with the Mom this AM to listen to the neurologist and help her sort things out. Thanks again for the rapid response and accurate information . :)

My 17 year old has a good friend who had a severe sudden loss of coordination last Thursday. He was hospitalized and his Mom was told that his brain was too large for his skull. They did several MRIs and did not find any tumors etc. They sent him home and according to my daughter they are going to do surgery on Tuesday. It sounds like they are going to enlarge the foramen magum. I have been a RN for a long time but not peds and not neuro. Anyone with any info I would really appreciate it. My daughter thought they said it was called charia class II? Anybody?

We are a new school of nursing and we are wondering what are the essential volumes to have in our library. I heard that somewhere there is a list of books? Does anyone know of such a list? :)

Hello, I am the Director of a private single purpose nursing school in Colorado. We opened in January of 2004 and commenced our first PN class in July and our first RN class in September. I have been teaching nursing since 1985 and have been a director since 2000. I love it even with the typical things with which we all struggle......getting qualified faculty, allocating clinical sites and keeping students satisfied. I have taught in the private sector , community colleges and state universities and it is the same everywhere. We are in it together. I look forward to gaining much knowledge and insights from all of you on this forum. thanks for being here.

Yes, I did ask the question becuase I knew it was real but I like to know what people know and see whats out there...the profile is my mom's an RN for many years......I guess you too are some of the cynical in the world....hope you can be happy...I doubt it. I too am a student of DSN.......the founder has not left who are you talking about "Infullbloom1"? The founder Jeannette Blair is still around as far as I know. I am enjoying my classes and look forward to getting my BSN in June of 2006. The classes are small compared to any other school in town and as a new program things are going well. Sure there are some bumps but what would you expect from a program the began it's first LPN class in July of 2004? I am happy here as are many of my fellow classmates.

I just heard that DSN got permission in Nov to grant the BSN degree?????? Anybody else hear that?
