  1. Second level student here. Well, it depends on the instructor on the phone/no phone rule. I was able to use and bring my phone last semester to look up meds & develop care plans but this semester, phones are a no-no with my instructor. I have all my texts in hardcover books but all my references books in app form; there are really good apps on the Google Play Store (Android user here) for nursing. For tablet vs laptop, it's just preference. I do have a Samsung Note 10.1 tablet that uses a stylus so I can take notes and write on my powerpoints instead of printing them out.
  2. @marchmadness I can't PM you back due to some post requirement.
  3. Congrats to all who got in section 302 for Basics, you will enjoy the experience b/c I did. Your classmates will envy you for all the things you will be doing at the hospital. Hope to see you guys when I visit Ms. B.
  4. I recommend you guys take section 302; you won't regret taking it, even if you have drive from the Northshore.
  5. I assume yall went to orientation already and a representative of Elsevier said the ebooks were necessary; not true. The teachers are not checking if you have the ebooks but you will need the books in on form or another to pass. I was able to get the main actual books in for both basics and pharm for around $350. Although they might be heavy to carry around, you can flip through the pages faster and you can resell them if you need to. For basics, you will def need the Potter & Perry (primary) & Giddens (secondary). You will rarely use Iggy. Oh, the "Fundamentals Success" is a great book to prepare for exams. For pharm, you will def the the "Pharmacology: A Nursing Process Approach". For drug calculations, you need to know this formula: D/H * V (D=desired, H=have, V=volume) or you can buy the "Drug Dosages" textbook. I was able to get care plan apps and drug reference apps for free on my phone; I was also able to get the Mosby videos for free online. As for school, read before hand, don't slack around, and develop good relationships between with your clinical instructor and classmates; you never know when you're going to need help.
  6. Yippie! I just passed Basics & Pharm. Good luck to yall guys.
  7. I'm planning to buy a monthly pass for the central parking lot on Poydras. How bad is the parking there when school time comes around?
  8. Hi all! I forgot to ask this at orientation but when and where can we get my ID? I thought I heard the 16th of August and also that it was changing but I'm not really sure any more. Is it the "Dolphin ID Card": Delgado Dolphin Card Thanks and hope to see y'all later in the semester.
