  1. Floor/staff nursing is hard work, long shifts, holidays/weekend. Nursing school does not prepare you for the reality, it is in your best interest to understand fully what you are getting into. Working as a CNA is a great idea, make sure this is what you REALLY want before spending the time and money on school Also, consider what setting is best for you to work in Best of luck!
  2. sthetascope pen light mirror (assessing pts heels for skinbreakdown) scissors watch clamps report sheet (I thing there are some on this site so you can find one you like
  3. .........and by medical problem do they mean and actual medical problem like narcolepsy or do they mean an medical problem that I am taking RX for (looking at medications that could cause impaiment not a medical diagnosis itself)
  4. Oh thanks for the correction :-)
  5. They are saying there is some kind of problem, and that I need to admit to the problem, even there is a medical problem underlying why I dozed off, that they dont just drug just for no reason but I thought IPN was only for people substance abuse issues of some sort
  6. lavalamprn replied to neuron's topic in General Nursing
how long is the program in your area?
  7. Thanks to all that are replying, I am really at a loss here
  8. Yeh tell me about it, there are times we just cannot chart on time IDK I guess evertthing combined....? I always thought that IPN was for some type or ETOH ro drug issue, they say they eval for medical issues - I think because some people are taking prescribed meds for medical reasons. The IPN website says that they mental issues is also a reason, but depression for instance, how many 1000's of nurses have some depression or are on depression meds? I am wondering if anyone has heard on being put into the IPN program if you dont have a substance abuse issue
  9. Also I am not on any RX meds and do not do any recreational drugs at all Only thing I take is occasional OTC meds
  10. Consider looking into a career as an occupational therpatist assistant, two years of school, much less stress and responsibility, and they make more money than nurses
  11. Well only you can decide that Have to look at $ of course, not sure what you are making compared to nursing Think about your prev two positions and why you didnt stay long in either Gotta love it to go back - too much stress, BS, demands, politics etc if you dont
  12. Wasnt a double, reg 12 hr shift but I was originally off that day and came in because they called me and I was up kinda late the night before
  13. Yeh I am not signing a contract I should also say that I had a DUI a few years back but I self reported that to the BON and they dismissed my case , not sure if that will cause an issue even tho the case was dismissed
  14. I have been asked by my job to self report to IPN I had two drug screens recently One a patient accused me (falsely) of not giving him his medication and the other I worked an extra shift when they called me in and dozed off at computer. There were also some patient complaints - meds late, didnt answer call bells fast enough etc, and my charting was behind Drug screens in both were negative. I actually voluntered on the second occasion to take the drug screen. I do have a previous DUI that I self reported to the BON that they dismissed. My job has terminated me and I am eligible for rehire once I talk to IPN. If they want me to sign a contract and refused then what happens? I do not know if these issues are reportable to the BON or not. I do have some stress and occasional depression but that didnt come into play in this situation What should I expect?
  15. Oh and the other conplaint was that my charting was behind
