I am a new grad RN. I started in a new grad L&D program last month. My advice is to research the hospitals in your area that do hire new grads in L&D. Find out what classes they recommend or require, and classes they have their staff attend. I also took NRP, ACLS, CLEC (through UCSD) to help expand on the specialty since nursing school doesn't give you the info you need! The fetal monitoring course helps a lot. Good luck and don't give up!

Hello! I have an interview coming up for the RN position (in L and D) I've been dreaming about since deciding to become a nurse. I have been reviewing all the "normal" stuff like the organization's mission and values, unit information, behaviorial interview questions that could come up, etc. My reason for wanting to go into L and D is personal, relating to my own L and D experience. How can I talk about this in my interview? I am having such a hard time finding a way to convey my passion for childbirth and the L and D process without bringing up my personal experience. I want to make sure I am staying "interview-ish" while still showing my passion for this specialty. Is this even making sense?? I am very nervous. Can you tell? lol Thank you for any advice tips or suggestions for a nervous new grad!

I haven't heard anything! I was really hoping they would call today so we could all know either way! Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for everyone!?

I still haven't heard either way...not getting my hopes up at this point. Just channeling my motivation towards finding any RN position.

Anyone else out there that hasn't heard from Scripps at all? No rejection email, no interview email, app status says applicant review. What does this mean? Anyone go through this before??

Congrats!! Is your interview on 11/26?? So far I have several friends that have interviews on that day. I still haven't heard anything. :-/

Anyone know when the "you got an interview" emails are supposed to go out??!?

I heard that they are supposed to hire more than last cohort which was around the mid 70s...but I'm not sure so don't quote me on that!

She did clarify that the RPS class was completed, but also asked several interview questions!

Does anyone know how many positions they want to fill for the Grossmont labor and delivery program? It seems like a lot of us received phone interviews for that unit...
