  1. I have been a RN for 7 years. I have worked in the med/surg, rehab and now ambulatory surgery center. My job is easy and most of the time I don't even have to go in (still get paid) because we don't have any cases. My only problem is the people who I work with. I cannot stand them just sitting around and do nothing. I end up being the only one who takes care of the patients all the time. I am sick of their gossips and sick of their attitude. I am seriously considering changing my career. I want to travel and I want to take vacations too. I used to be a flight attendant when I was young and I did that for 3 years. The only reason why I did not work as a flight attendant for long because I was sick of being alone. Now I am married and I have a stable family, I really don't mind taking some time to travel and make some money. My only worry is the money that I am going to bring in to the family. It might mean a big pay cut. I really don't know what to do now. I know there are mean people everywhere but it seems to me that there are mean people in the medical industry than anywhere else. I really don't know what I should do now. I feel like I am in a dead end job. I wish my coworkers can disappear and life would be so much better.
  2. Hi backtowork, your story is so inspiring. You told us there are always hope! I found your post from Google search as I was looking for places who would hire my friend. My friend has been a RN for 10 years. She has been looking for a job since last year under the board stipulation. She has not even got one call or reply. Do you mind send me an email and let me know where you are working at? My email is [email protected] I want to help her out so bad. She has 3 kids and her husband will be laid off soon. She really needs her job back. I appreciate your help and God bless!
  3. You mean, Planet fitness?
  4. Nope, it is all real. My coworkers are brutal. I want people to accept the fact that it is NOT their thyroid. It is their eating habits and their immobility that cause them to gain weight! I am not trying to be mean but obese nurses do not set a good example for our patients neither do smoky nurses! They are the same!
  5. Oh, thanks for the information. I am wondering if I need a Bachelor or Master degree to teach MA, LPN or CNA program? You have any idea?
  6. I have been a nurse for 7 years. I started as a med/surg nurse for 6 months, then GI nurse in an ambulatory center for 4 years and 3 years as pre/post op nurse doing pain management, neuro and plastic surgeries. My work is a very small outpatient center where we only have 6 nurses working together. I used to like this place that I am working because my job really has no stress. It is so easy to do and I get off early all the time. However, recently, when I ask my boss for days off, she told me no. She is saying no because I am taking 2 weeks off to see my very sick parent. She let other people take off because she likes those girls. Those girls know how to talk to her and entertain her. I just cannot stand the politics. I have to kiss up to my boss in order to get my days off. It does not matter that I am the hardest working at my work, what matter the most is if I can brown nose her. I am so sick of this politics. I am so sick of seeing my co workers taking sick leave even they are not even sick. I am really consider getting to another specialty that I can take long days off. i know I can do school nurse or teach but I only have ADN and I don't have much med/surg experience. I want to teach nursing assistants classes because i am good at training people. I am fun and I can get find special ways to make studying easy for people but I just don't know where to start. Is there any other nursing job that I can do? I need a job that can give me more vacation time so that I can travel to see my parents more often. I also need a job that I don't have to deal with the nursing politics too much. I am really tired and sick of it.
  7. My obese co-workers are always sitting around and chit chating instead of working. That is why they are obese. They will say stuff like, "oh I eat salad for lunch and I only will drink diet sodas.. " I am like,"Whatever..." One time I told them I will be 5 minutes late because I have my bootcamp in the morning. And they told me to cancel my workout because they cannot work for me in that 5 minutes period time. I am sooooo sick of their attitude! Please help these obese co-workers disappear , please!STAT!
