  1. OK I'm only in my 4th week of my first semester so take this for what it's worth...For me, nursing is just DIFFERENT. The pre-reqs you have a test, you pretty much know what to study because there are clear cut answers, generally speaking, with A&P, Chem, micro, etc. With nursing..well like I said it's different....time to put on your critical thinking cap. I highly recommend getting an NCLEX practice book/program and begin practicing your critical thinking skills. There's really no "cramming" for nursing...you just have to use what you know and apply it to each individual scenario. :) hope this helps. Good luck!
  2. Not sure if your text offers the same as mine but I bought the supplemental study guide/review book that goes along with mine (Kozier and Erb). It has an outline of each chapter already made up as well as key topic questions, important terms, and some NCLEX practice questions. Might be something you could look into purchasing to help you out. Best of luck. I'm in my first semester and feel overwhelmed with all the reading/information needed as well.
  3. Thank you thank you RNsRWe. :-) great advice.
  4. Hello all, I'm starting clinicals in January, and I really have no idea what to expect. I meet with my advisor in Sept. so I will have a better idea at that time, but is there anything that you wish you had known going into your first round of clinicals? Tips, hints, important things to remember? Thanx for any and all input! :-)
  5. Hi NurseLizzy, I'll be taking A&P 1 this fall as well. I'm a bit nervous about all of the studying because I work full time as well, and I'm worried I may not have the time it takes to prepare for the tests. From what I've heard about A&P, flashcards and lots of memorization tricks help. Also, taking notes in class is important. I've noticed in other classes, that even if I get handout notes for the class, I still take my own notes and I absorb the material better. Good luck to you! Jess
