  1. My advice is to request a leave of absence NOW, and after you're granted leave, THEN self report. I know that recovery involved honesty, but I was honest when I self reported, and I lost my job, and now I'm a 50 yr old single woman, with no job, no savings, and soon, no home. So protect your patients, and protect yourself. Get out of there before you kill someone, but use common sense and protect yourself, too.
  2. I have only told recruiters when they specifically asked me why I left my last job. And EVERY time, I got the standard "thank you for your interest, but" letter. But I also feel dishonest by not disclosing, but I would rather tell someone face to face, so they can meet me. I'm not having the best of luck with the job hunt, obviously. I was even turned down my a SNF, and I have many years of ED experience. Bleh.
  3. In reply to Ivana, I found that we are able to work night shift, as long as there are other RN's working. I'm an ER nurse, and my TPAPN case worker told me that I can go back to ER on nights. Well, that would be the case if anyone would hire me.
  4. Baylor Healthcare is no longer TPAPN friendly. I have my own horror story about self-reporting d/t addiction to vicodin, and I can relate many more from others in my nurse support group. Due to the hospitals trying to gain Magnet (maggot) status, they are turning their back on recovering nurses. I recently found out that I can try home health care, as well. Right now, the only hospital that is considering me is a 2hour drive from my home. I'm going to try Davita and Fresenius right now, thanks!
