  1. Hi Everyone, I am currently in my PMHNP program graduating in May 2018, and am doing my search for a PhD program that would be a good fit for me. I am willing to relocate to find the best fit. I don't want a major city as Manhattan, Seattle or SF, but a smaller city as Philly or Baltimore would be great for me an family. Hence would love to look into John Hopkins or UPenn, I know I am being ambitious here, but I have learned to dream big to achieve what I have so far achieved. I would like to find a program with nurse scientist/research focus, I know there are a few programs that are educator focus, that is really not my interest, even though I understand I would have educator skills through the process (but not the primary focus for me). I understand the importance of having the in person contact with your cohort and professors, hence I have almost ruled out online programs except MUSC and UT Denton, which I have heard good reviews about. I will continue to look for programs with faculty with mental health focus specifically child and adolescent mental health (Johns Hopkins post doc fellowship in child and adolescent mental health research hence looks great for that). I am sure other PhD holders on this forum have done their fair share of research on best programs available. Hence if you have any gems you could to share, I would highly appreciate it. Thanks in advance and I highly appreciate everyone in this forum taking time to help each other in this wonderful journey of caring that we are all in! Regards
  2. This is an excellent reply for the questions asked. I understand this reply is over 3 years old and you must be done with your PhD and quite sure landed your dream job and university teaching hospital or something. I am wondering how your journey has been since your reply. I am a PMHNP student graduating in May 2018 and am working on my search for a great PhD program that will prepare me become a nurse researcher in psychiatric nursing. I am wondering what program you completed and if you have any recommendations on universities that are big on mental health research. I understand there is a good mental health faculty at Vanderbilt and Johns Hopkins has a post doc fellowship for child and adolescent mental health research. I have only started my search and hence I am sure there are more out there. Please let me know what your thoughts are. Regards and thank you in advance.
  3. Hi there. I just sent you a pm. Check your messages. I don't see an option for group pm here. So I guess we have to by group text messages. VJ.
  4. I think we should create a yahoo group or something that we can all stay in touch? What do you think guys? I think it's only 4 of us that are on here. Let's introduce each other!
  5. Hi, they waived the requirement for me as I was able to prove that from my transcripts. They have been very prompt in their response. Pretty impressed already.
  6. Congrats everyone. I am worried now. I have an international masters degree and our health assessment was integrated into every specialty course. In my application i put in that i will be completing a course in health assessment. Now i dont know how to deal with this. They have given me a conditional acceptance provided I submit documentation on completing the course. Any suggestions?
  7. Awesome! Congratulations. Let's exchange emails and stay in touch. is there a way I can pm you on here? I don't know if that option is available for me yet.
  8. Hey guys. I just received my acceptance mail! Hooray! Stay alert for the mails guys!
  9. Nothing yet for me either! My son's first birthday is on April 22nd and they said the orientation is on 21st. I want to be able to plan something. This has just paused everything for me!
  10. I hear ya! The same here. Where are you from?
  11. Woah! This is taking forever. I dont want to apply to any other programs at this point as Stony Brook meets my need best. Now i am starting to question my thoughts. I just feel i should have applied to Upstate medical or something.
  12. Nothing yet! Seems like they have started to send out emails for fnp applicants. So I am hoping this week.
  13. We are hoping that decision emails are sent out as soon as possible, I have not been given a time frame as to when it will happen. Please continue to monitor your email. Response from them today. Hopefully soon! Can't wait!
