  1. congrats to you @happynerd I hope all is well. Aug 30 is coming up, i hope your license was instated... can i ask.. what kind of criminial charges did you have? are you on probation/diversion? and how blessed you are to have a job lined up. Kudos. hope all is well
  2. i think you should go for it. obviously you have a background in healthcare (lengthy too) maybe add in that you don't drink? or abuse alcohol? with a formal statement from an MD? and you will have lots of time to impress your professors who will see someone who loves nursing and is becoming a wanted nurse for our future :)
  3. Hi Everyone, I graduated from an Associates Program in CA in June 2012 and unfortunately(!) got a DUI that very day. I normally do not drink but I really let my hair down that evening.. It wasn't the best way to celebrate and I feel lots of remorse/guilt/shame. The board has denied my application but they are letting me appeal. I was just hoping to hear some advice? If they put me on probation, I will be thankful. If they deny my license, I am willing to move out of state but do not know where would be a smart place to live/start my career. In the future I had planned to finish with a BSN or more.. but without a license, it's not possible to complete those degrees? (with the research I had done anyway) In the meantime I am volunteering a little and working so I can pay my lawyer fees/fines and etc.. I also attend AA regularly. I understand that I could have killed someone. I am so sorry to those who have been affected by the poor choices of others.
  4. LOL TBlase. hallucinating.. Congrats on getting a license as a backup? Hope the DUI is reduced to a wet reckless. p.s. how was the kaplan review? I signed up for the On Demand but it hasn't let me start it yet (been two days?) Hope it was worth the $$
  5. Hey Nursequestion, I'm sorry that this has happened . . did your employers let you stay with them? Is probation going to affect anything . . ? Hope you are doing well and getting through this alright! (keep your head up)
  6. Hey Red_robster408, I'm sorry about your DUI sounds like it could have been a wet reckless and - in general, sucks that this has happened. I was curious which state you were allowed to test in? I hope to hear of good news from your case !!! Take care~ and good job with all the volunteers, references, AA and nursing support meetings.
  7. hope things went ok! update! ps congrats on the baby ~
  8. Congrats Lotus1, hope you do well on exams and get a great newgrad position somewhere soon :)
  9. bpowers5211 - So interesting! Really glad someone posted about this. I am in the pits right now and having someone explain what they went through has given me a timeframe (6 months!?) Since this wasn't posted too long ago, I'm a little more reassured that there is hope for me - even if its a stip, or probationary license after all is said and done... There sure are a lot more steps involved (attorney general, back and forth, etc.) No wonder it took 6 months.. Dang. I hope I have good news to share with allnurses.com once this fiasco has evolved into a fiesta of nursing license celebrating.. thanks for sharing, hope we get an update soon ?
  10. hope things go well. how did the board find out so quickly - to investigate / what state are you in? I hope things go well for you, cant wait to become successful/healthy/happy nurse. keep us update~
