why isnt drug or alcohol addiction in the medical field protected under the americans with disabilities act which does cover it (disease, mental or otherwise) in any other profession [color=#333333]? i can understand for the need to regulate impaired individuals but it just seems like a contradiction and discrimination to me and i am not an impaired nurse.

I am a nurse on WHPS after quitting a job abruptly, the DNS & Admin reported me to the BON for suspected drug use. My quitting followed reporting the facility to the State for multiple patient care violations (they found out about the anonymous call) & giving patients the 800 # for the nursing home abuse hotline (which I was verbally reprimanded for). I have never used drugs or even drink alcohol, and had taken several drug tests for this employer during my year of employment with them. The BON found no wrong doing other than 2 documentation errors (assessment follow ups) after administering 2 alert middle aged patients narcotics per their request. I have no fight left in me and signed the BON documents & was placed in WHPS. Are there any statute of limitations with these things, my last job was almost 5 years ago & the BON just finished their investigation & placed me in WHPS last Summer.

In Washington State when a prospective employer checks my license they can see the forms I signed (I have a big problem with them displaying my signature to the general public-ID Theft) about the WHPS program including the Statements of Charges, Allegations and the Informal Disposition. Anyone can check a license just by name in WA, you dont have to be an employer or other health professional to do so.

i am new to the whps program and though my license is active there are restrictions and i am on probation. who is hiring lpns in the seattle area or should i just give it up and seek another career [color=#333333]? can i work as a cna if i cant find work as an lpn [color=#333333]?
