Nursing in California - Aussie Nurse - Process
Thanks everyone for your post. Grantsally1. What is unclear here is how to get around to getting a SSN to register for NCLEX. What is the meaning of ATT that u have used. Then also is it possible to contact the hospital directly and will they wait so long for the completion of all formalities before starting employment. SSN or social security numbers are only issued to US citizens or have a work permit. Catch 22 how to get around this. Then again calling hospitals, which department do we call and would they have the time to entertain our calls. Are there any agents here in Australia that do the migration and employment process. Lots on the US side, but googled and could not find employment agencies here.

If using a agent is the only way to come to the USA. What advice would you have using migration employment agents. Things to look for. What I am entitled to, what to bargain for. What to avoid. Any other important stuff. Then again how does it work. Is there a contract for a certian period under which I will have to work for them. What would you suggest if any other alternative? Thanks.

Salary For RN's
Hi Everyone, I am not sure of this topic. But wondering if anyone can tell me what are the salaries for RN's in California. Secondly, is it advisable to use a agent to get a job. Thirdly, with so many advertised positions for RN's is there a shortage of nurses in the industry. If not California what is a good place to move to in the US. 4thly do hospitals recruit directly and allow you to do the NCLEX once to reach the US, but then the NCLEX documentation takes time, how do they wait so long or go about it. Is it worth moving to the US from Australia. I cannot find a single agent here who hires people for US since there is a shortage here itself. Its just that my kids like the place (US) CA. I am in a predicament should I move to the US or not. Personally Australia is a great place to be. But, I want to see my kids happy. BIG PREDICAMENT.

ATTENTION: CA BON Now Requires SSN to apply for NCLEX.
CA BON Now Requires SSN to apply for NCLEX. CA-BON is just dodging everyone overseas. The entire process and the emphasis is on ssn which overseas nurses cannot get. Neither have they provided any information on getting a ssn which are obliged to tell us since they need the same and explain also what is the need for the same. How can a foreign nurse be connected to a ssn. strange!!!!!! framework

ATTENTION: CA BON Now Requires SSN to apply for NCLEX.
Hi Everyone, What is queer out here is that I am an overseas citizen not residing in the USA currently. How can i come up with a SSN. I even spoke to the SSN office who agreed that the SSN should not apply to overseas candidates. After all I am just giving a test, getting a result and being issued a licence based on the all criteria that is striclty relevant and in line with nursing. There after applying for a vacancy to get a job and then get a SSN. But, its really out of sync to need a SSN for a nursing licence. The officer agreed and told me that while many organisations are required to ask for the same. It's basically for identity purpose and in this case an alternate identity can be used. No big fuss. What the CA-BON is doing here is playing ball. (to get a job to need to have done your NCLEX, but to do your NCLEX to need to have a SSN, to get a SSN you need to have a job and the ball is back and forth). What the BON should come with is ethical standards. Be truthful and say we dont need overseas nurses here in CA from overseas and stop overseas registrations and put it in bold on their web page. Makes it easier for all to know and they can try New York or other boards that are in the same USA but are not fussed for a SSN.

Nursing in California - Aussie Nurse - Process
Hi Everyone, I am an Australian Citizen (Nurse - RN), residing in Australia. I had recently visited CA for a holiday and my kids liked the place. So I have planned to take up employment in the USA - CA. I have done a bit of googling for info. Seems Aussies can apply for a E3 Visa. Request to know what is the best way to get to CA. Are employment agents the way to go. Can anyone suggest a reputable agent. Then again i have stumbled with the SSN that is now required to register with the CA-BON. Is anybody out there that can break it down to a easy to understand. End of this thread will lie the answer. Can we go or break the bad news to the kids. Request your time and advice for the same.

ATTENTION: CA BON Now Requires SSN to apply for NCLEX.
Hi Everyone, I am an aussie citizen. Currently living in Australia. I would like to work in the USA. This is a catch 22 since I am in a predicament. The CA BON wont accept the application without a licence. The SSN wont issue a SSN. How does one get over this. Then I am all new to this. I hope someone can break it down.
