  1. You can buy folic acid by itself and take it alone. They are very small pills and shouldn't upset your stomach too much. It is very difficult to consume the amount of folic acid you need from foods, unless they are enriched already. Synthetic is best absorbed by the body. The neural tube is closing at around 6 weeks so this time is crucial for you to get what you need. I took a mulitvitamin and supplemented with extra folic acid equal to around 1200 mcg during my pregnancy. good luck and hope you feel better!!
  2. I have two pair of Earth shoes and I love, love, love them!!
  3. This isn't an issue for me anymore, as I'm taking a break from hospital work, and doing public health surveillance, but in the old days :chuckle we needed to call in by noon (I worked 3 to 11). Night shift by 1900 and days 0500. You could pretty much tell by the census if you needed to drag your butt in or not. Some days it would have taken bleeding from the eyes to call off, and others, well a snotty nose and body aches would suffice.
