  1. I honestly don't see where you would have a problem at all. Height shouldn't factor into it at all. Your personality and ability to sell yourself it what will help you along with a good resume. i don't see where your height would be intmidating, but if you find that it is just look for ways to present yourself in a different way.
  2. I really like my Alegria clogs, you may be able to try some of those. very comfortable.
  3. some of the personel around the place i work also say things like "why are we doing this? the patient is a dnr?" . i am constantly saying that does not mean we aren't here to treat them and give them antibiotics and labs and such. unless they are comfort care only. there is either a huge misperception or maybe they are a little burned out. after i say this they usually shake their heads and say " you are right". i also heard some one say something about a patient being a slow code the other day and asked what that meant. i had never heard of such. sounds a little half a$$ed to me. i'm learning every day and just hope that maybe i can help change the way some people percieve things like this. i also have a huge respect for hospice. i also think the op did what she should have in the end you do the best for your patient not your co-workers.
  4. I leave them at home. Besides the bacteria, I am afraid I will tear some poor elderly patients skin. I don't think I have worn my wedding ring in 3 years. I have explained my reasons to my husband and he understands;) I hope you can find something that works for you.
  5. Sounds like an instructor I had in school. She just liked to throw her weight around and let the rest of us lowly students witness the glory of the Queen of Nursing that she was. Nothing we ever did was ok.
  6. I work in a very small hospital and I feel like the hardest part is having to float from the floor to ER and back again. You wear many hats all during the same night (or day) its is sometimes very overwhelming. we are also maintenace , house keeping and anything in between. This is especially hard sometimes bc i am a new grad and the orientation is not the same as if I were at a bigger facility. It's really sink or swim.
