Question regarding Ivy Tech Nursing program
I just got accepted into the program at Lawrenceburg, Indiana. I had all A's in my prerequisites and an 83 on the TEAS V which I opted to only take once. Total combined score was 173. I was number 4 out of 19 people accepted at the Lawrenceburg campus out of 30 applicants. Those are some statistics for you. The Lawrenceburg campus is only hard to get into due to the small number of students accepted (19) as opposed to the Madison campus which accepted 70. As for Ivy Tech's reputation as a nursing school, all you need to do is converse with those out in the field to learn that ASN's from Ivy Tech are just as competent as anywhere else as they are all nationally certified by the NCLEX. It is important to note that the health industry is shifting toward BSN's as LPN's are slowly ruled out (especially at magnet hospitals.) So, it is best to pursue a BSN after completing the ASN program and there are a lot of programs out there that make the transition possible. I hope this helps.

Ivy Tech - Fall 2012
On a side note... Some of us have crazy (and other inappropriate adjectives that come to mind :barf01:) jobs that we hope to discard when our dreams come true. Once the congratulations letter comes , there is a mandatory meeting that must be attended . My lovely vocation approved all the days I asked off for ... except THAT one! I stormed in there and after some healthy communication :argue: found a manager and took my note and talked to them about it. One of them finally fixed it for me. Becoming a nurse is way more important than my present job . I don't know how I'm going to work during that first semester , but if there's a will there's a way! I guess I'll just work week-ends. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE! :hrnsmlys: AND HOPEFULLY :heartbeat CONGRATULATIONS!:thankya::w00t:

Ivy Tech - Fall 2012
My wait is over, but I feel your pain. In all my life I had never stalked the mailbox like that. It's pretty crazy having to wait for something like that, because everything planned hinges on the one piece of paper. (I would say it's like a child waiting to receive Christmas presents, but that would be just plain wrong for a kid to get a rejection letter from Santa... coal maybe... LOL! You've been naughty!) I know the waiting is painful and every empty mailbox is Congratulations! for those who've made it , prayers for those still waiting :heartbeat, and for those who did not. In the end, I wish everyone success in their endeavors to become a ! (Yeah, I had to play with the emoticons... God bless!)

@kiche123- Congratulations to you, as well! I think we were allowed to apply to as many as we wished. I did notice that my application had a slot for only one name whereas others had two spaces. I guess applicants were supposed to put their preferences in the order of desire. I only applied to one, because I only took the TEAS once and was going to wait until spring of 2013 if I was rejected. (Gives me time to save up money working at my horrible job: less loans, etc.) I know that Lawrenceburg was only accepting 19 applicants whereas Madison was accepting 70 or so (as to the distribution into ASN, etc, I don't know.) I also know that the acceptance letters were supposed to go out before the rejection letters. Jackie Koch said the letters were sent out on the 14th, one day after the deliberation at the Madison campus. Good luck!

Ivy Tech - Fall 2012
@kiche123 My letter arrived Monday, May 21, 2012. It said, "Congratulations! ...conditional acceptance... must return letter of intent by June 6, 2012. There is a mandatory meeting at Madison campus on June 22, 2012." Now, it's time to re-up the CPR, and the meeting is for changing of major, pee-in-a-cup, and the on-line background check. At least, we will be able to jump through a few hoops all at once...

I don't see any others here for Lawrenceburg. But, I hope this will help the data pool. I got accepted into the ASN program with a 173. They were accepting 19 positions with 30 applicants. I had A's in the classes and an 83 on the TEAS. There were a lot more opportunities in Madison for people to get into the program. A lot of my friends had scores in the 60's and 70's. I hope they got in!
