thank you endless_sti for your advice. i just picked up my uniform yesterday which i ordered on july 10th. i think you could call them, but i am positive they will call you at the beginning of next week. i heard that they have all uniforms shipped to the store already, but it takes some time to organize all the orders. when comes to the book list- nobody informed me yet about any changes. what i've been told is that we have to buy all"reqiured" textbooks. i've bought some, but not all. i decided to wait for the lecutre and hopefully the professor will clarify everything- what we really need.

to Katja508 and everyone that have some doubts like me. So I've ordered almost all the textbooks we need, but not the online versions, and I figured out that it's impossible to use these many books during one class that we will have this semester. I think that Truman should have let us know which textbooks to get only for this semester. How I mentioned, I placed my order and my textbooks are in the way, so I can't even cancel them now, otherwise I would get only what we need for right now (the first semester). I think there is no need to buy books for 2nd year of program (unless I am wrong) and especially we have to pay for the class soon. It's hard when you have to pay out of your pocket. On the other hand seeing them how they are not quite organized I will be not even surprised that we will need newer editions then. I feel confused sometimes, but I believe I am not the only one here feeling the same way. And........ I went to order the uniform yesterday. The store is relocated and the new location is 2184 N. Elston, but there was no any note on the window of the original store we were supposed to go. Thanks to one of the students who mentioned in earlier posts about this change. Stay calm and enjoy the rest of our free summer.

Unfortunately, I was out of the state last week and I was unable to go to the Truman and order the uniform for clinicals. Can you tell me please what exactly do we need? Hi everyone attending Truman. Does anybody knows how is with the parking in this school? I will be a new student at this school and when I went there yesterday to the nursing office I had to park on 4th floor in the garage. I know that not everyone takes classes during summer, so I wonder how to find a parking space in the fall when a few thousands of students will be going to school. How many times you can retake the NCLEX?

to newyork27, we do not need another background check right now. I guess we will have to do it again at the end of this year and we will be provided with the due date. So we do not have to worry about it right now. Hepatitis B we will receive in 3 series; 2nd dose will be in a month from the 1st dose and 3rd dose will be in 6 months from the first one. So it's not possible to get all three before June 29th( the last day when they will taking our medical pockets). Do not worry, I am waiting for the next dose and I will take it next week. I hope my answer will help you a little bit, but not confuse you more.

To Kaimi 69, Yes, I am confused too. I thought they are very organized, but they are not. I turned in my pocket last Thursday, on May 31st. Vanisha told me that 3 of the drugs from the test drug have different names that on the sheet from Truman. The medical coordinator should look at this and I supposed to receive a call if this is ok, or I should do another test drug. It's been a week now and I have no any information from them so far. When comes to that certified background website, I have no idea how they do the drug test. I know it's online thing, so how we have to give them our urine? They supposed to make up their minds. I know a lot of students turned in their pockets already, but those people from Truman are still making new changes. That's annoying.....

To Bethany, I think you can refuse the Hep.B for now and get it later based on the wavier that was emailed to us with all other medical requirements. Here is a copy of it: DEPARTMENT OF NURSING Hepatitis B Vaccine Wavier (To be completed ONLY if the student DECLINES Hepatitis B Vaccine) 1. Hepatitis B is a blood-borne disease which affects the liver. Symptoms can range from none or mild flu- like complaints to cirrhosis, liver cancer, and death. 2. Many healthcare workers (including nursing students) may be exposed to blood and/or body fluids during routine work activities. They are substantially at greater risk of contracting Hepatitis B than are those with limited exposure. Statistics place health care workers at a 20 time greater risk of contracting Hepatitis B than the general public. 3. Hepatitis B vaccine has not been shown to be highly effective in preventing Hepatitis b virus infection. There is no guarantee or assurance as to results of the vaccine, but clinical trials in healthy adults and adolescents have shown a conversion (protection) rate of 96% one more after the 3rd dose. 4. Hepatitis B vaccine is given by injection and consists of three separate doses of vaccine. After the initial dose, the second dose is usually given at an interval of one month. The third dose is given six months following the initial dose. 5. Adverse reactions to the Hepatitis B vaccine may include fever, headache, and local pain at the site of injection. These reactions occur in 1% to 10 % of injections. Wavier: I understand that due to my education exposure to blood and other potentially infectious material, I may be at risk of acquiring Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. I have been informed about the need to be vaccinated with Hepatitis B vaccine. However, I DECLINE Hepatitis B vaccine at this time. I understand that by declining this vaccine, I continue to be at risk of acquiring Hepatitis B, a serious disease. to Endless, Yes I did. I submitted a copy of my CPR because I had the class last month. I completely forgot to bring with me only the letter of acceptance, but Vanisha ( in the nursing department) said that I do not need it. Make sure when is the deadline, because I am confused with it. Is either June15th, or July 1st. I tried to have everything ready only because I wanted have some time left, just in case they will find out that I missed something.
