Passionate new grad for the NICU! How do I get there!?
Thats exactly what I have been trying to do. Thank you for the advice, your right the residency programs is the best option. However it is hard to to get your foot in the door to even get an interview for the residency programs being in Houston, tx because the medical center is extremely competitive and their are thousands of people who apply for more often than not one or two positions. I graduated with Honors, did volunteer work throughout nursing school with women, infant, and children populations and still didn't picked for interviews. Therefore i learned the most important lesson that I hope you will take to heart if your passion is truly NICU. Your grades don't matter when it comes to getting a job. Don't get me wrong do good in school and study for your own benefit especially if you want a masters later but to get a job or even an interview you need connections and good ones for that matter! The biggest mistake i made during nursing school was not being good at networking. Therefore, i hope you follow my advice and every time you have clinical in a NICU or even a Hospital that has a NICU try your hardest to go meet the Nurse manager in the area you want and get their contact information! This will help a 100% more than having a good GPA.

Passionate new grad for the NICU! How do I get there!?
Hello All! I just recently received my BSN degree and am on my way to licensure. My passion is to work in the NICU and so far I have not had any luck scoring any interviews for the NICU. I have a job offer for med-surg and possibly pedi oncology both in Houston Med Center. I know both areas would be great experience but I am just not as passionate about them as I feel I should be due my disappointment I can't get into the NICU. My question is does anyone know how easy it is to transfer to a NICU unit from either adult med surg or pedi oncology? Will any NICU unit hire me after 1 year experience in adult med surg or pedi oncology!? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am getting pretty desperate if you can't tell. Sincerely, Still hopeful new grad

Houston nicu jobs!
Hi all! Im a new grad as well with a dream to start my career in the NICU! I have to applied to St. Joseph's NICU, but would love to be able to contact someone there as I know a few people who received interviews by being able to contact the right person, whether it be a nurse manager or HR recruiter. Those of you who have worked at St. Joseph would you by any chance still have contact information for either an HR recruiter, or nurse manager I could reach out too!? I have called the HR recruiter it seems thousands of times now and never get to talk to anyone and have left countless messages. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Currently Work @ St Joseph Med Center Houston?
For those who have been recently hired or currently work at St. Joseph Medical Center. If possible could someone provide me with a nurse recruiter's email or any other type of contact information. Specifically for the NICU if possible. Im a new grad and have applied to the NICU there as well as the new graduate position and have left many messages for HR, which have never been returned. Therefore, I am hoping to get another type of contact information for this position. I have had several friends receive job interviews solely by being able to contact the correct recruiter. My dream job is to work in the NICU and I feel as though I am running out of options. If any can help I would greatly appreciate it!
