  1. Awesome, thank you! I'm extremely detail oriented myself and tend to remember things better in the long term the more thoroughly I understand them. This is exactly what I was thinking would be helpful in filling in some of the "holes" I have in my knowledge base so I'm not lost when more advanced topics come up.
  2. I know this is a little off topic, but do you mind sharing what agency you found the week on/week off schedule? Something like that sounds glorious
  3. Hello everyone, I'm starting a BSN to DNP Program in the fall, and in the hopes of making good use of the time I have before it begins, I wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on anything I should review? I have a lot of very varied experience in psych (my specialty) and geriatrics, but I haven't had med/surge experience since my ADN program. I've been told to review A&P, but I'm not sure how deep to go with that, or if I should focus on anything in particular. Specific resources (books, websites, whatever) would be really helpful. Thank you!
  4. Hello everyone, I'm going to be starting UFL's BSN to DNP program in the Fall! I'm very excited. I have a coworker who is currently close to completing the program and she works PRN, right now about one day a week. She has told me that the preceptors are very unpredictable with your clinical hours, and I won't be able to regularly schedule myself for a particular day of the week so working a lot isn't really feasible. I'd appreciate any insight from anyone who has completed or is currently in UFL's DNP program, or anyone who might have insight. I'm just trying to figure out how much I'll be able to work during the program. I don't have kids, or any real obligations other than work/school. I currently work 3-11 Mon-Thurs, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to switch to PRN and have a more flexible schedule once clinical starts.
  5. Hey, I got into psych too! I didn't know you could add a dual program? That sounds very interesting.
  6. I haven't heard anything yet. Sent an email asking when decisions might be made. Ughhh the wait is killing me! I didn't apply anywhere else
  7. I just applied for the psychiatric track for fall 2016. Anyone else apply? Isn't there usually a board for this by now??
  8. You're going to JU and you work at a facility for clients with eating disorders?!? Where is that?! I assume you're in Jacksonville and I'd love to work at an eating-disorder specific facility...
  9. I'm a relatively new grad RN (six months of psych experience so far--still peeking around for med/surge and other arenas). The main reason I got into nursing was to work in psych and become (what was at the time an ARNP, but is now moving into) a DNP in psych. I'm working on my BSN now and would like to continue onto my DNP, I already know what university I would attend... but when I searched for Psych DNP nursing jobs, nothing much comes up? This is rather distressing. Is it just that most places don't advertise for DNP jobs? Most of the DNP's I know work with a psychiatrist in their office, which I suppose wouldn't really advertise, but as for working in hospitals or acute care settings, wouldn't I be able to find those job postings? So, psych dnps/arnps/etc, is it easy to find jobs? Or am I just wasting my time pursuing this expensive degree?
