Feeling so Bummed
I agree with the other posters in that it seems you are being too sensitive. However, I've always been socially awkward myself and can sometimes get my feelings hurt very easily over something that wasn't intentional by the other person. So I understand. You just have to realize your own idiosyncrasies and take that into consideration before getting too upset about it. Other people's perceptions are always going to be different, and that's OK - you can't control that. As far as making friends, I didn't make my "ride or die" buddies until almost halfway through nursing school. You're only a few weeks in, everyone is still getting to know each other and it will take a while before good friendships will be established. Also, the "cool kids" who were having the exclusive study sessions during my first semester all failed out by third semester. So I guess they weren't so cool after all. Be careful who you associate yourself with.

Also, for some reason I'm nervous...don't know why. It's not like it's the first day of class. But it still feels like it!!

I'm bringing my health and safety documentation just in case they are going over that. Other then that I'm just bringing my iPad and paper and a pen. I don't really know if we're supposed to bring anything else?

It was actually really good! About halfway through class we were split up into groups based on schools (GCC was split into three groups...there is a lot of us!) and then given topics for our presentation that is due the last day of class. We had time to brainstorm and then did a 5 minute preview presentation on what we had so far on the topic. So far the classmates have been awesome. The instructor is great also and seems easy going. I feel a little silly that I was so nervous!

I'm in jeans and a turquoise blue shirt BTW. Ponytail too.

It is, isn't it! It's a little intimidating but so far everyone seems nice. I keep looking around wondering where my AN buddies are?!

I was more excited than anything until I read the syllabus and saw that we have a group presentation being assigned tomorrow. Me + public speaking = !

Yay! It seemed like everyone here was taking the July session.

So is anyone here starting NUR330 on Monday? I'm mildly nervous...

I applied as soon as I got my acceptence email. The instructions they give you at the application session are pretty thorough. However, if you have difficulty with it would rather wait, they will take you to the computer lab and walk you through enrolling during the orientation.

I'm pretty sure that they had it scheduled to go for 4 hours but it didn't quite last that long. The financial aid overview was optional and some people chose to leave for that, however I stuck around so I was there longer. Everyone that I saw came on their own.

I think that you are talking about the general NAU CEP orientation that takes place shortly after the acceptance emails are sent out? If this is the case, then yes I have attended it. It basically goes over how you get enrolled for all of your classes, the things that you need to do before you start the program, and also financial aid (via NAU) will discuss how financial aid works and what you need to do to ensure you get your money. Were there any specific questions you had?

I'm pretty sure that it said that they would give us the information on how to submit it all at the orientation. Not sure if we have to submit it all there, but I'm definitely going to be bringing all of my paperwork with me just in case. Would rather be prepared! Glencroft wasn't even an option for me. And the only reason that I picked HealthSouth was because of the good things I've heard about it. It's actually the absolute furthest from my house and will probably be a pain in the butt considering that we have to be there at 6am! But I would like to have a good clinical experience (is anyone else as nervous as I am for clinicals?). I'm in the evenings/weekends cohort.

Me too!! I even went down to GCC and got my consortium agreement filled out so i can now submit that. It feels nice to check stuff off of the long list we have. Which clinical site did you go with? I got HealthSouth like I wanted. Hope it stays the same...they keep mentioning that it could change at any time!

They must do it different at every college. At GCC they sent everyone a mass email that links to a welcome website. This then goes over every aspect of what is to come (vaccinations, background checks, class registration, uniforms, etc.). Besides having to submit some acknowledgement forms by the 9th, almost everything else is going to be discussed at the all day mandatory orientation which takes place on July 23rd.

Well paint me stupid! You already said CGCC...sorry. I don't know how you will know. I'm attending GCC and the coordinator has been emailing us with information directly. I guess just keep checking your emails.

Are you attending GCC?

When you are in Student Center, if you look under admissions, do you see the community college you are attending listed for Fall 2014? If not, then you need to click on the admissions link to the left and enroll for Fall 2014 (just select from the three drop down boxes at the bottom of the screen). If you already do have that listed then I don't know. I would call enrollment services?

@JustAGirlinScrubs - No, I'm in the evening classes. I think I want HealthSouth. Even though it's the furthest from my house, I want a place that will give me a lot of opportunities for learning. And I've heard good things about them. I keep checking to see is anyone else has enrolled because then I will...I just don't want to be the first and then l get in trouble if we weren't supposed to! I'm such a chicken!

So I just got an email from my instructor with the final schedules and clinical sites! It's feeling so official now and it's kinda freaking me out! My only dilemma is that even though the instructor states that registration will be open on Monday, Student Center is letting me enroll in my clinical site and class already (and there are only 8 spots available per site!). I'm resisting the temptation to enroll because she said Monday...but I don't want to lose my preferred clinical site! I don't know what to do!

I was going to because I've heard that it's really helpful, but realized I can't because of the time it starts. The NAU CEP Facebook group discussed it and a lot of students said that it helped reinforce information.

Has anyone here had to do a Direct Loan deferment? I got a notice last night that they are going to start billing me in three months. I printed out the loan deferment form but it says I have to have an "authorized official" fill out the bottom part of the form. Who is the "authorized official"...the financial aid department? This crap is so confusing!!

Make sure you go into the financial aid area on Louie and accept your money. They don't pay out anything until that is done. I've decided I'm taking out my max subsidized loan amount. It feels like there is so much stuff to pay for before school starts (books, uniforms, shoes, vaccinations)! I don't want to stress about paying for it all! But boy do I hate racking up these school loans!

I also emailed the Financial Aid advisor yesterday (nearly passed out when I saw my $2134 bill!!) and was told that payouts should be handled "within the next week". But that seems to be a pretty standard time frame given, so who knows. @Dylansmomm - I got into the Monday class too - see you there!!

Has everyone been admitted into NAU? I am STILL waiting! I have been told for the third time today that they are going to remove the "to-do" item in Louie that is asking for my high school transcripts (even though I don't have to submit these) which is holding up my admission. I am starting to stress that I am going to have problems getting enrolled in my summer classes and getting my financial aid!
