Hi I have been researching the same thing myself. I am an R.N. trying to get into Billing/coding. I have been discouraged, I contacted local hospitals and they wand AD level training and 1-3 years experience, especially for inpatient coding. There are 2 types, inpatient, and physicians office. The hospitals are hard to ge into. I have talked with people from AHIMA and AACP, two organizations for coding professionals and am still unsure of prospects for this job.
