Patty, Thanks for responding to my email query. I looked at Drexel briefly too; however, I was really interested in the informatics portion of the program. I really don't have any plans of clinical nursing in my future, although I don't have a crystal ball ... and, you just never know. I've been an RN for going on 28 years, I'm ready for a different aspect of nursing. For the past year, I have been doing legal nursing; but without my degree, I have no chance of advancement. I'm a diploma nurse; many people think that we are just grandfathered in. I have to really work at my BSN program. How much more difficult will an MSN program be? Also, I've read that if you stop pursuing your MSN, some schools will not grant you your BSN even if you have more than enough credits. I'm really confused, so I hope you'll keep in touch and let me know how you're doing and what your thoughts are on the subject. I appreciate you sharing with me. Happy New Year!

Hi. I am so intrigued with the RN to MSN programs out there, particularly the Excelsior program with an emplasis on Informatics. Has any attempted an RN to MSN program. Please share your experiences. Although I'm very interested, I am also terrified. It is a huge amount of time and money to wasted especially at my age. Thanks.:uhoh21:

I've been reading most of your posts. I already attend Jacksonville University online; and, I'm satisfied with the program. However, the RN to MSN program with the emphasis on Informatics at Excelsior College is calling me. I don't know what to do. Is anyone out there currently in the RN to MSN program? What do you think?:rotfl: I've already taken two or three BSN level nursing classes. I don't know if I can deal with the testing out of class issue. Hope someone can give me some guidance on this specific program. Thanks!

Hi, Does anyone here know any specifics about nurse coding courses? Is it worth pursuing? Will they actual hire and pay what nurse coders are worth? Just seeking alternatives. Thanks!

Hey, Thanks for the info. Actually, I was looking into Excelsior's MSN program because they did have a concentration in informatics, which is my interest. So, then, I would have to learn the master level courses and informatics at my own pace? Do they also offer online classes? I guess I will have to contact them by phone. I'm just tired of the hard sell some of these institutions give you; it's like buying a car. Well, I guess it costs as much as a really nice car too!! Thanks again.

Hi, Everyone, I've been reading your posts because I've been looking into the Excelsior RN to MSN program. I don't know if I can handle it because I can't even understand this program set up! Those exams are so expensive! They're to get credit for classes? Do I understand it correctly, that you also have to pay $995. per year for an enrollment and re-enrollment fee? Currently, I am taking classes at Jacksonville University. I am doing great with that program, but there isn't an RN-MSN online program. They have the program, but it is campus based. Can anyone give me a brief understanding of the Excelsior program? I'm 50, facing a brick wall, not a glass ceiling without at least a BSN. Money is a huge issue for me since I only work 30 hours per week and my husband just lost his job. I'm covering all home expenses; and, we've joined the ranks of the uninsured! Advice, please...
