How do I become a good candidate to be a Clinical Instructor?
Some states require a masters degree to teach in an RN program, even a community college. Good luck!

ACNP considering a university teaching job
I did hospital nursing for 17+ years, decided to get my MSN and teach. Absolutely the best decision I made in my career! I still do a bit of patient care, but teaching allows autonomy, creativeness, and a real impact in our profession. It is affording me the time to return to school for my doctorate. Good luck!

Preceptors for MSN online Educators
If anyone needing a preceptor is in the dfw area of Texas, I'd be willing to help. I am an educator with an MSN and currently working on my doctorate.

Failing a student in clinical
Best wishes with this matter. It sounds complex even though the students verbiage was simple. I think your post gives us all a way to examine how we would handle this matter if it was in front of us.

"Caring behaviors"
I am currently writing the criteria for evaluation of caring behaviors. Our curriculum gives us a definition for a foundation to expand upon. I found the ANA Code of ethics helpful, along with using therapeutic communication as a tool to develop criteria for what caring behaviors encompass. I have included not only patients, but families, patient support systems, the interdisciplinary team, and peers. It is a bit easier to evaluate since we do not use pass/fail. Instead we use a numbered criteria and point system with specifics about what constitutes points. Some of the criteria may cross over to professionalism evaluation, but still falls under both categories. Best wishes!
