My status changed to "Routed to Interviewing Supervisor" today and I got an email this evening for an interview! So they're still sending out interview invites!

Student Nurse Preceptorship Help
Thank you for the advice! I am leaning towards ED also. I think it would be great exposure. I'm glad to hear you are getting ED/ICU interviews without having to precept in those units! I think you're right and I'm putting too much importance on the preceptorship part of nursing school and not all of the experiences I have had collectively. Thanks again :)

Student Nurse Preceptorship Help
Hello everyone, I am a senior BSN student in Los Angeles. I have found out I have test scores high enough that I can pick a specialty for my preceptorship, instead of having to do med-surg. I am a little conflicted as to what specialty I want to pursue. I have strong interests in both ED and OR. I have spent one day in each setting during nursing school and liked both, seeing both the positive and negative attributes of each unit. However, what would be better to precept in? I hear ED is great to build skills, priority setting, time management, and gives you a good foundation for any nursing position. But I like that the OR is focused on one patient at a time and very organized/structured. I really think I could thrive in this setting. But with such limited exposure to this environment, it is hard to say. My fear is if I do OR for my preceptorship, and I don't like it, it could then be more difficult to get a non-OR job out of school because my preceptorship is so specialized and not reflective of typical patient care. But if I love it and decide to pursue OR after graduating, I certainly think it would help get a job! Or should I do ED to get a good foundation that I believe would help me when applying to a broader range of nursing positions, including new grad ER programs. Also, does anyone know how difficult is it to get hired into the OR without experience? Same with ED, is a preceptorship in ED recommended for new grads? I am really conflicted between the two because they are both so interesting to me. I would love to hear some thoughts and opinions! Thank you :)

CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2012)
So I am confused, are we really expected to register for classes the NIGHT before they start?? How are we supposed to plan our schedules (like people who have to arrange childcare for example) if we don't know when our classes will be? And what about people who are registering for general ed classes earlier, they won't know if the classes will overlap or not! That just doesn't seem like an efficient system at all :/

CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2012)
Just wondering... has anyone received their "hard copy in the mail" yet? It's been over a week since I got my acceptance email and still nothing in the actual mail. And if anyone did receive a letter in the mail, did it contain any addition information that was not in the email? And for those still waiting to hear from the SON, keep your hopes up! Thanks! :)

CSU Los Angeles School of Nursing (CSULA Fall 2012)
Hey everyone, So for those of you who paid your $100 to the university, did you get anything from csula confirming your acceptance decision? (Besides the receipt) Because nothing on my csula portal or GET account changed. In fact, my green admission check mark turned into the green circle meaning "completed," so I am a little confused. My friend got into UCLA and accepted the school and got this super nice checklist of things to do now that she paid the $100. Just wondering if I need to call the school to confirm my decision..

Hello everyone! I have been reading (stalking) this forum for a few weeks now as the anticipation for admissions decisions built! I wasn't going to jump in until karan encouraged us readers to do so :) I got my acceptance email today! I had 24 points. I will definitely be attending CSULA in the fall. Already submitted the $100 and the confirmation page that came with the acceptance email. Did anyone else submit the confirmation letter yet? I printed mine out, filled it out, then scanned it into my computer and emailed it to --------. But it did not say really who to email it to. Did anyone email it back to -------- too? Thanks and can't wait to meet you all! :)
