  1. We have a policy in place for visitors in pacu...it is up to nurse when to allow parents of small children...otherwise usually no visitors...ours is phase I pacu only...too many critical pts to have a visitor potentially become a pt too!
  2. Yes! When pacu is full, we call OR front desk and they then have to call to see if there is room for them...if not, they hold pts until a spot comes available.
  3. Where I am from PACU is post anesthesia care unit and is synonymous with post operative care unit. Our POCU is pre-operative care unit.
