  1. PACU RN's- what is your visitor policy?

    We have a policy in place for visitors in pacu...it is up to nurse when to allow parents of small children...otherwise usually no visitors...ours is phase I pacu only...too many critical pts to have a visitor potentially become a pt too!

  2. Does your OR have to hold til theres a PACU bay??

    Yes! When pacu is full, we call OR front desk and they then have to call to see if there is room for them...if not, they hold pts until a spot comes available.

  3. what is the difference between the PACU and the post operative care unit?

    Where I am from PACU is post anesthesia care unit and is synonymous with post operative care unit. Our POCU is pre-operative care unit.
