  1. did you calculate your hours beforehand? I'm just scared to send in money just to be denied again
  2. In the email they send they said i'd need 48 months of med-surg if i calculated right i only have 44 months :/
  3. i received an email from the bvnpt explaining the requirements but if i calculated right it seems like i'm kulang with my med-surg i'm in a panic mode, i hope this all works out
  4. But I wouldn't need the Employment Verification filled out anymore since i'm challenging the exam based on my educational background not employment experience, yes?
  5. does anyone know besides the 54 hours of pharma, if there are other requirements needed???
  6. I wouldn't mind working at an old folk's home or a hospice or anything like that, but i know they also require you to have some experience first before you can work :/
  7. K! I received my documents: 1. Official School Transcripts 2. The form needed to be filled out by school Now all i have to do is add in a copy of both my H.S and College dilpoma, complete and fill out the Application form and get my livescan done. Oh and the payment! AM I MISSING ANYTHING? I'M ACTUALLY FEELING EXCITED LOL
  8. That's true, but the pay is so different as well as the scope of practice. And hospitals aren't really taking in LVNs now as far as a i know, so i have the feeling that places we can apply to work at will be somewhat limited
  9. Have you received your ATT already? I started fresh too, just requested my school documents and all i have to do is wait for em to arrive in the mail, fill out the application form and get my livescan done, I feel kinda down about settling for the LVN exam rather than to pursue the NCLEX-RN
  10. I have tried calling the bvnpt time and time again, but unlike when you try calling the BON where you can just wait for an operator to be available, you have to re-try and call again if no one is available :/ which sucks, everytime I try to call in they are always busy, and going to their office in Sacramento isn't exactly an option for me at the moment
  11. I cant find any schools that will allow me to take just 2 subjects :/ they either dont offer that option or they are completely packed and have no slots
  12. Eligible to take the nclex-pn? i contacted my analyst and said that it's completely up to the bvnpt to determine if i can take it or not :/
  13. Yes it is, but we can't let this stop us from pursuing our dreams! I just pm'd you my email address, please feel free to contact me anytime!
  14. Based on advice from others here on the site as well, I should opt for METHOD 3-- I should fill out my application and get my fingerprints done then send those along with the payment of $150 first, THEN call in to have my documents transferred? Should i just use the documents that i sent in to the BON and have them transferred, or just start a fresh new application? I'm paranoid that if i have my documents transferred somehow, some way they might add a note that I was ineligible for reasons such that...etc. then be told I cant take the LVN exam as well lol And what is that whole employment verification (part of the application) what do i do with that? I've never been employed as an LVN before (possibly a dumb question)
  15. Like many other filipino graduates, the CA BON told me I am ineligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam because of the whole concurrency issue. After much time and consideration, and inquiring at schools, I have decided to challenge the NCLEX-PN exam instead. Based on what I have read, some people who opted to take the LVN exam instead, were actually told that this was an option for them by their analysts. My analyst only suggested to me to take up my classes at an accredited school here in California. I would like to hear from people who were in the same situation, applied to take the LVN exam and actually got their ATT alread-- is there a chance that this could backfire on me and be told that I am ineligible to take the LVN exam as well? :/ Where do I go from here?
  16. As i read on i feel more and more discouraged that i'll find a school here. Now i really am considering just challenging the LVN exam, then enrolling in an LVN to RN program :/
  17. Hey guys, i was thinking about challenging the LVN exam, but i am going to try to find a school first that would allow me to enroll for only 2 subjects, I tried SFSU so far, and no luck They have like 600-800 applicants and can allow only 80 slots, so they would prioritize students who were enrolling for the whole program. Does anyone know of a school in SFO that would allow you to enroll for only two subjects??
  18. But would you have to send in 150$ first? I'm kinda scared to send anymore money
  19. did you graduate batch 2012? I'm sorry about yours as well, same thing happened to me-- got my letter of ineligibility, researched it, and my web browsing lead me to this great site :) A lot of people can share their experiences, give their support as well as some well-thought advice and facts. We should all keep pushing for our dreams, this is just a bump in the road, we just need to keep going!
  20. Congrats on getting your ATT for the LPN exam! Should i inquire for the transfer of my documents and wait for them to be transferred first before filling out my application for the LVN exam? Yes, i think i read that in a different thread, her analyst didnt charge her for it :)
  21. hello dragon_lady! Are you taking the exam for Cali? I've really been putting thought into taking the LVN exam as of late, but whenever I go to the site and check out the application form (method #3) i get kinda confused :/ like with the employment verification whatever form, this may be a dumb question, but who do i give that to, to fill out? Do i just call the BON and talk to one of the operators and ask them to just transfer my documents to the BVN? will i have to re-do the fingerprint cards? Sorry for all the questions Thank you and God Bless as well :3
  22. Thank you steppybay for your well thought out answer, esp. the link to all the states that are adapting the whole concurrency issue, it's a bit discouraging to know that a lot of us foreign graduates will have a harder time trying to gain eligibilty to sit for the exam, as well as get jobs in the case that we do take and pass the exam :/
  23. Hey Everyone! Along with many other foreign-graduated nurses, I was deemed ineligible to take the NCLEX exam for the state of california You could only imagine my disappointment and frustration after i opened that letter. I tried looking into applying for Nevada instead but saw a recent post about Nevada having more requirements as well :/ I feel as if i'm not really sure as what I should do. I'll be moving to California in a week, in hopes of looking for a school there that I might be able to enroll in, but I just want if anyone has any other suggestions out there? I was also looking into taking the LVN exam as well-- has there been anyone in the same situation who applied for the NCLEX-pn exam and got their ATT? If so, please share the process and experience! :) Also, any suggestions about any other states i could try applying for? Perhaps, for one that isn't as strict? I have this fear that soon enough all the states will be adapting California's attitude with foreign-graduated nurses :/
