  1. share13, if I were you, I'd call George Fox and see if your statistics credits will meet the math requirement. If you've taken a math course higher than their minimum requirement and it transfers to the school you want to go to, usually that is satisfactory and they won't require you to take MTH111.
  2. PCC waitlisters: I was #33 on the waitlist and just received a phone call this morning offering me a spot in the nursing program. I just wanted to let all of you know that I declined and the next person in line should be receiving a call soon! :)
  3. Has anyone called to check when they are sending out the letters? I KNOW they said by June 1st, but I am getting soo impatient! I feel like my mailman knows everything about me already over our daily conversations by the mailbox lol
  4. Sasafras, I seem to remember that the essay was worth 15 points.. And I think the whole process was 30 points so I'm guessing 15 each.. I can't wait for my letter this week!
  5. emmyers, The impression that I got from my previous interviewers is that to share ANYTHING may hurt your chances at getting accepted. I, personally, would rather not take that chance. I figure that if they wanted us to know the format or any other details, they would have informed all of the applicants in their invitation letters. I do, however, understand that some people may have disabilities, which is why I suggested SushiOConnor to contact the school directly. Of course, everyone is entitled to their opinion. You may be right, but I would rather play it safe when it comes to something as important as this.
  6. SushiOConnor, I don't think that you should stress about the essay portion. If you are really worried about it, I would contact the nursing program office or disability services before your interview. I believe that if you provide documentation, they are required by law to accommodate your disability.
  7. And Lilpoka, I'm sad that I didn't get to meet you! I ended up calling and switching my interview to a later time that day. They had someone cancel so they were able to fit me in. I am glad that it's all over though. :)
  8. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but I think that disclosing details about the interview process gives other applicants an unfair advantage. When the first group of us went in, all we knew was that we would be given a 30 minute timeframe to complete the essay and an hour for the verbal question/answer session. I will say that I think it would be very beneficial if you arrive 15-20 minutes early. I found it relieved a intense amount of stress for me to talk to the other applicants before the interview began and get to know them a little better. The interviewers were extremely nice and easy-going so once you get in there, the feeling of wanting to throw up from the anxiety lessens a bit! Sasafras0123, it sounds like you're very much like me in terms of freaking out about things beforehand lol. I took some natural pills with valerian root in them to calm my nerves the morning of the interview and it seemed to help. I also prayed A LOT!! Just know that there is only so much you can do to prepare! Just think... After the interview you only have a week of worrying before you find out if you're accepted! The rest of us are suffering through two weeks! I decided afterward the interview ended that I wasn't going to second-guess any of my answers and torture myself. I am just putting everything in God's hands and hoping for the best.
  9. Has anyone had their CCC interview yet? Mine is tomorrow morning at 10:30am! I am really nervous/excited!
  10. Waitlisted at PCC @ #33. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get accepted right off the bat but I'm pretty hopeful that I will get in once CCC sends out interview letters.
  11. I applied for the April 1st deadline. I was missing one prerequisite that I thought I had so I got bumped down from 46 points to 41. I'm not too confident that I will get an interview because the minumin points have been pretty high the last few semesters.
  12. SushiOConnor, What do you mean? There is going to be a delay?
  13. Lilpoka, Congratulations!!! Are you going to hold out for a different school or was MHCC your top choice?
  14. I haven't been able to sleep because my brain just won't turn off! I've been reciting the periodic table in my mind every night to try to bore myself to sleep haha Slowly being driven insane.... It's so frustrating to have the rest of your life riding on this upcoming month!
  15. I scheduled mine for 10:30am on May 18th. :) Will I see anyone there?
  16. I just back from my PCC essay and found an invitation from CCC in my mailbox!!! Lilpoka, I'm sure the written portion is similar to other schools. Maybe 3-5 questions about goals, examples of communication skills, and why you chose that specific program. I am excited!
  17. Sartorius1, I had one B in PSY237 and got a proctored essay invitation for PCC. My overall GPA is 3.91. Where did you apply? How was the essay, Lilpoka? Mine is tomorrow and I am getting really stressed!
  18. I am praying those letters from CCC come today! This waiting game is driving me crazy!
  19. emmyers, I emailed -----, who is the contact person for program admissions, and requested a review of my application. She said that I may go to the information meeting listed in the denial letter that they sent out where they discuss how to improve your application for the following year. I am really confused though.. I was sure I'd at least get an interview. It's hard to figure out if they made a mistake if no one will talk to me! I am happy I got an interview at PCC though!
  20. Sartorius1, when I got my points letter, I called and they told me the two years of high school language apply only to the BSN degree through OHSU. For the nursing program application itself, they only accept college-level language courses or a language proficiency examination. I would have taken the exam but it was too late at that point!
  21. Hi all! I finally find a post for the 2012 nursing program applicants! I applied to PCC, MHCC, CCC, and Clark this year. So far, I've received my denial letter from MHCC (I was pretty shocked to tell you the truth!), an invitation letter to PCC's proctored interview on April 25, and points calculation from CCC (I believe I got 58.64?). For anyone who wants to compare, I have a 3.91 GPA (one B in PSY237), have been working as a CNA2 since 2008, and am bilingual. I did all of my pre-reqs at MHCC and I thought it was my best chance of getting into a nursing program, which is why I was surprised at being denied an interview. My point calculation for CCC is a bit on the low side.. I didn't think they would require a proficiency exam if I was fluent in another language! I thought they would accept a high school transcript with 2 years of a foreign language like PCC, but no such luck! CCC is my number one choice so far, then Clark, and PCC. Has anyone here attended a PCC proctored essay? The information page says that the questions will address general factors such as personal values, diversity, communication and critical thinking skills, motivationsal fitness, tolerance for stress and transferable skills. Their wording threw me off a bit though. They said "essay questions" and I am curious to know if there are multiple ones that we will be answering or if there will be just one that we will address in essay format. Please don't post specific questions, even if you know! Like a previous poster said, I don't want this to affect my application. Thank you in advance. :) I'm sure I will be seeing some of you on Wednesday.
