Meeting with AF and Navy Recruiters
I called the number for my local recruitment branch towards the end of the day and they pawned me off on some other guy after I told them I was interested in coming in with my BSN as a nurse. That guy brought a medical officer recruiter to our initial meeting and I've been working with him ever since.

Navy NCP 2013
That's a good idea. Good luck with your nursing classes this fall!

Navy NCP 2013
Also my application process has taken 4.5 months up to this point. Are you finishing nursing pre-reqs this year? They let me apply for this fall because I'm staring nursing classes this fall and I have exactly 4 semesters left in my program. I'm not sure you can get selected if you're any more than 24 months out from graduating with your BSN.

Application Process Navy Nurse
SoontobeRN01 & matters04 - I don't know if you're interested in the Nurse Candidate Program, but I'm in the application process now and it's taken me almost 4 months and I'm hoping to wrap it up in the next couple of weeks. I'd recommend the NCP if you can do it, because you get paid during school and have time to prepare for the PT. You head out to ODS soon after passing the NCLEX. You're allowed to start the application when you're accepted to a BSN program and you're going to be starting the main nursing classes, but I don't think you can be accepted until you have 24 months or less remaining of the program. I'd definitely talk to a health recruiter in your area! Good luck :)

Navy NCP interview advice
It went really well! I had a panel of 4 nurses asking me questions. They said I was impressive and they liked all my answers. We'll see if it helps my chance any!

Navy NCP interview advice
Thanks guys. I will most likely be having my interview at a Naval Hospital. I won't be wearing a suit but just a nice skirt and blouse sounds like it should be ok.

Navy NCP interview advice
I'm applying for the Navy NCP and I will have my interviews at the end of this month (most likely in person). I'm wondering what kinds of questions I should have ready for the nurses, as well as some advice on how I should answer their questions (besides honestly ). Also, would buying a dress suit be over the top? I was thinking a pencil skirt with a solid blouse and heels, since it is July in the south I'd hate to wear pants! Any pointers you'd offer up? Thanks in advance for the advice!

How do I fight off the nervousness as a New Nursing Student?
I'm so nervous too! I'm someone who likes to plan ahead and have every detail worked out. Not being in control of my schedule and really having no idea what I'm going to be doing is driving me crazy! What I'm most nervous about is that everyone I've talked to says be prepared for no sleep, because they were up every night doing projects & care plans... I get incredibly sick if I don't get a good nights sleep! Is this going to make it impossible for me to be a nurse?

Shoes for Nursing School
scrub wearer I just found the Klogs Naples and they look like the best option. Most reviewers liked them more than the other name brand. Thanks for the input everyone!

Shoes for Nursing School
What all shoes do you recommend? My school didn't have a required brand. I don't care if they look goofy I just want comfort & support :)

AD VS BSN to start off...
My decision to go BSN was based on the fact that no matter what I couldn't start until this upcoming fall (2012), so when I decided to apply to schools in fall 2011 I looked at my credits. I was 5 classes from meeting all the BSN requirements and 1 class from the ADN requirements. I chose BSN because I was so close to finishing its pre-reqs and BOTH programs take 2 years (4 semesters) of core nursing classes. I figured why spend 2 years getting an ADN only to turn around and spend another year in an RN-BSN bride program down the road? This way if I decide to go back, I'm working on my Master's degree and not just a BSN.
