NICU RN to FNP or PNP?
I'm in a PNP primary care program and I come from an adult cardiac background. I hated adults and i love the focus of primary care. kids are awesome too. Here is my experience-- if you ONLY want peds, do PNP. More likely to get hired by a pediatric practice with PNP than FNP. But that is just a blanket statement-- may be untrue in some places with less access to care. Also, and keep in mind this is one experience, the clinical site I have has both PNPs anD FNPs. The FNPs are always begging to see ped patients but their schedules are always full with adults. Do what you love! Good luck!

Clemson or University of Tennessee, Knoxville - Nursing 2012
hm... tough call. i'm not sure how many days a week you will have to be on campus because i'm not familiar with the accel. program. but if it comes to about 50% on campus and 50% clinical...i would say clemson. you can get cheaper rates because they know students are their primary renters. and not all the clinicals may be in greenville so i wouldnt bank on that. hope that helps!

Clemson or University of Tennessee, Knoxville - Nursing 2012
hey! i'm a recent clemson grad so i can only speak for their program... i was a traditional BSN so i can't speak for the accelerated program. BUT many people from my graduating classes got jobs in ICUs, ER, exc. in the area surrounding clemson. Most of the clinicals require a little driving time... some of them are in Greenville...which is 30 mins from campus. EXCELLENT experience...professors are very helpful and try to assist you as much as possible. Campus is really nice. Edwards is the nursing builidng...2nd floor is called the "Sim Lab". Designed like a hospital unit complete with real hospital beds and robotic dumbies. (even one that delivers a baby...hahaha). Good luck!

The Final Countdown....
I used Kaplan! My school made us use them....and it actually worked for me. I don't know if you just buy the book if you get the online stuff...but if you can pay to use their online question bank..called the "q bank"..DO IT. It has 1500 questions. My instructor told me that if you reach 1000 question by the time of you're exam, the pass rate is like 98%. So for the month before my exam, i did 50 questions a day (like an hr) Monday-Friday. I ended up doing something like 1200 questions. I got 70% percent of them right by the end. And i passed my first time....SO IF I CAN DO IT, SO CAN YOU! when i finished my exam, i walked outside and balled all the way home. Literally cried so hard because i thought i failed. and i didn't....so BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! Good luck! Trust yourself!
