LPN prpgram at OCVTS
Congratulations!! I am in class B. I got the sheet of medical abbreviations and medical equations. I've been studying non stop already! I'm very excited, but very nervous. I'm looking into getting all of my books together and can't wait to go scrub shopping :)How were your instructors? We're you already in the health field before you started? We're you able to work while in school?Sorry for the 21 questions, by the way :) again, congratulations!

Tips to help me get ready for nursing school starting next month
I'm starting school in September. A lot of people have told me to enjoy the summer since I'll have no time during school! Aahh! But others have said, if you know you are not good in a subject, just get a "know it all" book about it. For me, math is my weakest. So I got a book called Dosage Calculations from amazon. Like $8, couldn't beat it. So I'm hoping I'll be one step ahead in that class. Good luck!!

community college fail
I took two years of business courses at my local community college. I probably got the same grades as you. Some D's and some F's. I didn't like business nor did I care about my grades then. That was 5 years ago and during that time I finally realized that I wanted to be a nurse. I just got into an LPN program at a vocational technical school and I love it! They didn't need my previous college transcripts. (thank god!) My advice is to look into technical programs for LPN that you would be able to bridge to Get your RN once completed. Then you can go on from there :) Good luck!

OCVTS LPN grads!
First of all, congratulations! I will be starting in September and am extremely excited. (and definitely nervous) I was wondering if any recent grads can give me any insight on the program. How are the instructors? Are the helpful? Is it possible to work part time? Also, if you plan on furthering your education to receive your RN.. Do you have to start all over to get your RN? I'm not so worried about this or I would have looked into it further. My only worry is that I'm going to have to be put on a waiting list for a few years before I get into an RN program after I graduate from OCVTS. Can you do an LPN-RN bridge from this program? Thanks for you input and again, congratulations!

Nursing school...second times a charm?
Oh ok. I'll be at ocean county voc. but good luck! You know what to expect and no one needs to know! Good thing you're getting a second chance, the instructors must have seen something in you

Transferrable credits?
Thanks for all of your input! Im going to stick to the vocational route. I feel comfortable with the instructors and the schools reputation. If I have to take a few extra classes or retake some I already did well in, oh well. Better to know the subject than not! Thanks again!

Nursing school...second times a charm?
You'll be fine! Second time around, you'll be more prepare and be even more determined. I am not in this situation, but I'm sure it'll be better this time around. What school are you attending? I saw your from NJ, so am I and I will be starting a vocational school in September

Transferrable credits?
Ok so basically if I go to the vocational school, when I go for my RN, I will have to start from the beginning? Thanks for your help!

Transferrable credits?
Ok I'm a little confused. I want to eventually get my RN. However, I'm not experienced in the medical field and I would like to start with my LPN. I looked into a county vocational school for LPN and I really like it an it got me very excited. But...if I want to do a bridge program to get my RN after this LPN program, will my credits transfer? After what I've been reading on this site, it sounds like only community colleges will transfer credits for a bridge program. Does anyone know for sure if this is true? I figure a school like Lincoln Tech or another technical school that's "for profit" probably wouldn't transfer. That's why I looked into a county vocational school I don't want to be stuck in the future. I want to be able to bridge into an RN course. I anyone knows anything about this, I would appreciate it so much! Thank you :)

Starting my LPN program in September!
LJB1015 Who did you interview with? I interviewed back in February, I think with Mrs. Wilson? ahh, I forget already! I was so nervous for my interview, I can barely remember it. I would love to talk to you about your preparations for school and see if maybe we are in class together. I have no medical experience either, but I am so excited to start. (nervous too!)

Starting my LPN program in September!
Hi everyone! I am starting my LPN program in September 2012 and I am so excited about it! Has anyone taken the program at OCVTS? I know it will be tough, but I am ready for the challenge. I met with my potential class and most of them are already CHHA's, EMT's, or NA's. The only experience I have is working as a receptionist in a doctors office. This does worry me, but I know I will work even harder than then just to catch up. If anyone has any advice, it will be greatly appreciated! Are there any books that anyone knows of that I can just start reading now? I know the instructors will teach us from the beginning as if we all know nothing about the field, but Id still like to be prepared. I look forward to talking with all of you :)
