New RN, 3 weeks into orientation, total screw up.
If you have to question it don't do it without first seeking your CC's guidance n this and still double check trends in the patient. It is your license no matter what so who cares if a MD, OLD DOG nurse screams at you.

How come no one will call me?
Have you looked at alternatives or moving to use your degree? Some areas are saturated. If you have seen Nashville there are plenty of musicians on every corner. Sounds like in your are there are many nurses on every corner.

Heres what I don't get about hiring
Notice that I said 2+2 is essential. No wait, you didn't . You should have seen that but the reaction to the previous statement of "training a monkey" enraged most of you before you got to this. So that speaks volumes. To be essential and to the point, the reactions of negativity PROVES MY POINT :flamesonb. If I can't get the person where I want them to be (nobody, I mean nobody starts where they need to be) that is where the probationary or training period gets to remove an unorganized and underdeveloped nurse. I will NEVER hire or RETAIN a negative attitude as it IS THE CANCER OF ALL FLOORS NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE AT. You can not disprove that no matter how much you try.

Heres what I don't get about hiring
I can teach skills to a monkey. I can't teach attitude. Attitude will take you further. As a previous manager I would rather hire a good attitude who uplifts the team and does not bring negativity to the team. I would pour more into them to get them where I want them to be. 2+2 is essential, yes, but the overriding reason is ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING!

How did you support a family & CRNA school?
I am planning my path from ADN to CRNA. I have 2-3 years till I apply. I do not want to take away from my 3yo and wife to do this but I know it will be worth it. I need to hear from you how you funded your family/school through CRNA school.

Help me choose between CRNA and a CRNP
I am a people person so I am torn between confining myself to the OR and occasionally talking to pts and being a NP and missing out on the OR. As far as shadowing I contacted the HR at local facilities large and small to let them know what I was interested in and they placed me in touch with employees.

Help me choose between CRNA and a CRNP
Thank you Steve. I like both routes. I am waiting on some local agencies to get me connected with someone to shadow them a day or two a week to let me see day to day life of both roles.

Help me choose between CRNA and a CRNP
I am a new grad at the ripe age of 34. I am married and have a 3yo girl. At this stage of life entering a 2nd career I am focused on creating opportunities for my family like retirement for my wife and I while providing a great education for my child. I am not afraid of anything except getting stale in one area. So with that information tell me what you would/did do and how you funded the journey to your goal. Any information is greatly appreciated. If you have some information you do nit feel comfortable sharing openly please inbox me. Thanks everyone.
