  1. Malenurse2001, I have already completed the didactic portion of my front-loaded program and I have some advice for you...I would know how to draw the 20 amino acids, know the fuctional groups (i.e, OH, COOH.etc.), and learn about pka, acids, bases, and DNA synthesis. I would also become familiar with the terms (polar, non-polar, Ionized, non-ionized, hydrophobic, hydrophilic, and lipohilic). If you are looking for topics to study prior to beginning your program, these are solid topics and you can be assured that you will definitely SEE THEM AGAIN!! I hope this helps you to narrow your focus on biochem pre-program studying. Qwiktofeat
  2. Trauma Tom, Thank you for the congrats....I am obviously very excited to attend Samford's program. Does anyone know how many were accepted this year? If I'm not mistaken, only 18 have been admited over the last two years. TraumaTom, any advice before beginning the program (i.e., what PDA to buy, any suggested reading, etc.)?
  3. Thanks for the warning, I'll certainly be on the lookout for those two.
  4. jrec, I interviewed on Monday, the first day. I thought the interviews were pretty laid back and the faculty were down to earth. I only know of one other person that interviewed at Samford, but made the alternate list.
  5. jrec, I was accepted at Samford also...Congratulations.. Like you, I have an interview with UAB in February. I most likely will decide to attend Samford though. I cannot wait until June. I have been preparing for this for several years and it has finally come to fruition. WOW what a feeling.. In addition, thanks to all who post on this website. I have lurked for almost two years and have gained much insight into the interviewing process. Hope to see ya soon :)
  6. Hello all, I have recently become a registered user after viewing for over a year. I think that the forum is a valuable resource for anyone intrested in becoming a CRNA, and I am thankful for all I have learned. So far I have only interviewed at the UT Health and Science Center in Memphis. Unfortuantely, I only achieved alternate status. However, I have an interview coming up in January at the Samford program in Birmingham, AL. I would appreciate any information about the program from those currently attending or planning to attend. Thanks in advance.
