Thanks, zbean! I saw a job listed a couple of days ago for a nursing asst. and it said you can apply right after Fund. I thought that was awesome, becuz I am really worried about surviving financially during nursing school. I got some royal blue polo shirts on clearance from Butterfields and was going to sew the IRSC RN patch on them...do they allow this in lieu of ordering the shirts they offer? The ones you order are $25 and I got these for $6 each on clearance...trying to save money where I can...LOL JenniD008, I printed the list a couple of weeks ago, knowing it may well change, and took a chance on ordering 3 books on half.com. I only ordered three of the cheaper books so I'm not out much if it changes. I just looked on the River book store and saw it is missing for NUR1020C...I can only guess they are updating/changing some of the books listed. Ms Camacho said at orientation that don't bother getting books now becuz they don't have them right now at the bookstore...funny, I was in there on Friday and they had lots of Fundamentals books...hmmmm...anyway, good luck! If you want, I can scan and email you the NUR 1020 list I have, but, like I said it is probably being updated. Let me know :)

I guess ya'll probably all know the start date for classes is August 23rd. I thought it would be earlier, but guess not. By the way, Butterfields Medical supply on US Hwy 1 in Fort Pierce is where IRSC usually recommends we buy our scrubs, the zipper shirts and the white scrub bottoms. FYI, they are closing that location and will not be carrying the uniforms anymore as of the 26th. EVERYTHING in the store is 50% off. Which mean its about $10.50 for a zipper white top instead of $21. The requirements for class indicate we must have a laptop. I need a new one. Can anyone recommend where I can find a good deal on a laptop?

I'm pretty sure it starts the same week as everyone else, its just a different rotation of class time. For example, two days a week you may start at 8 am for lecture, then two days a week you start at 6:30 for clinical. We won't know our schedule until probably May when we do orientation. Hope that helps :)

On a different subject, is anyone out there having any success finding information about scholarships? I applied for a bunch through STARS and I just found out about the Nursing Foundation. I can't get regular student loans because I have 135 credit hours and an AS in another field. Most of these are financial need based and I'm worried that they don't consider me "Poor" enough, LOL. I've heard that there are programs out there where you can get your nursing school covered if you sign on 2-3 yrs with a hospital...Does anyone know about this? Or how this work? Who to contact? I definitely am going to have to figure out the cost...

Congratulations to all who got in! :cheers: mmacias, you may not have to wait long. Usually someone who gets in does not show up to the mandatory orientation. And others who just can't meet other criteria, like drug testing. I'll cross my fingers for you!!!

I'm pretty sure no crocs for clinicals. When I went to orientation for LPN they were adament that the shoe had to cover your foot completely with no holes, and not even a canvas shoe that could absorb blood. I think they said you can do crocs for lecture if it has the strap on the back, but not for clinicals. The ideal shoe for clinical was a K Swiss leather shoe (not canvas). Like I said, this was just from my LPN orientation, but I'm sure pc2801 has better and more up to date information as she is in the RN program now.

Thank you for the info! pc2801, Are you finding the program to be really challenging so far? (assuming you are in the program right now)... I wanted to start ahead in getting what I needed if I get an acceptance letter. I was accepted last semester for the LPN and started getting the white scrubs & lab coat, but I decided to wait one more semester to see if I can get into the RN. I was still taking Micro & A&P II last semester. I know they will have everyone running around like a chicken with their head cut off, so I figured wardrobe and books are something I should have lined up. I checked the book list currently on the IRSC bookstore website and am wondering how much it will change for the fall, if any.

Way to get those scores up Tiffany. That was a good increase. I am sure you will get in with a 243. I would be more confident if my score were like Fuzzy's... -...I'm guessing we will know by a week from Friday. Does anybody know what the attire will be for classes & clinicals? I'm assuming all white scrubs for clinicals and some color of polo & khaki's for classes? How many days per weeks are classes usually during the first semester?

I know we probably have almost two weeks before we get letters, but the wait is already killing me!

I applied for Fall 2012. My overall score is 250. Like everyone else I am waiting for a letter. Do you think I have a pretty good shot at getting in. I was really disappointed that they only gave partial points for AP credit and I got a C in Microbiology...so my points were not as good as they could be. Do all of you think we'll start getting letters maybe a week into April?
