  1. Cngrats And thanks Sarah!!
  2. Congrats Amber!! You've got two great options! I'd suggest going to their admitted student visit programs ( there was just one april 14th/21th) to get a feel for the school and a bit info n their nursing program. Also see if you can Shadow a student like Kayla did ( above). I also heard from the nursing students themselves while i was at the USF nursing session that USF will put you on top of other Applicants seeking a job at other hospitals. She ws told by nursing managrs at the hospitals she did her clinicals at. Of course the biggest con is the tuition x the 3.5 years we have to go through. The school is just beautiful and centralized in a fantastic city. Of course SFSU is as well, but doesn't have all the crazy hills!! How long is the SFSU nursing program? Is it not structured for you to graduate in a certain amount of time?
  3. Haha sorry! I just realized i made some serious typos in my previous post. Typing on my ipad with my index fingers gets me carried away. But yeah! I'll pronanly be at USF visiting :) have fun again!
  4. Oh man! I definitely think your shadowing will be more beneficial to you than our asvp!! The program was more geared towards incoming freshmens. I enjoyed it just as much with my parents, but it wasnt until i got to do the transfer program session and the nursing program session( where we got to meet the nursing students and their director) that it became more helpful for me. We toured the lab and got to ask the students questions. Honestly you can get just as much out of your shadowing! Just tour the school yourself! :) i didnt know you could shadow a nursing student! I thought you just go with anymore lol. Please update on what you find out if possible :)I kind of got to see the faces of our potential nursing students. Of course sme might not attend, but it was cool to just be in the same classroom as them and the nursing director. Have a blast this Friday! Weather is going to be great- hopefully the same in SF! I MIGHT bein @ USG again this Friday!! Hehee
  5. Hey Tucay- how'd you like USF today? There were many admitted students at the nursing program advising session. Haha i wonder if we bumped into each other without knowing. Too many people! I hope you enjoyed it. It is a lovely campus! Only thing i never enjoy is driving through the congested streets and the ups and downs!! Haha never used to that even after all these years! I submitted my enrollment fee and mailingthe intent to enroll this week. I hope you find what you're looking for!
  6. Tucay:Really? Isnt that a bit soon, especially for students like you that still aren't sure whether or not they'll be attending? And the emaili got a few days ago say 8am - 1:30pm instead of 9am lols. So early.
  7. Ok.Haha im curious too! Winder what classes we'll be taking.... I spent 3 years taking pre-reqs and ges, but i guess none of that matters to USF unless its from USF haha. We can find out on admitted students visit day! Im attending next Saturdays! Are you going to attend Ok?- are you still looking for apartments or considering commuting maybe. Im already tied down to the 21+ Loyola village housing...
  8. Im not a nursing manager either, however i believe it doesnt really matter since everyone will be taking the same board exam. I worked for 2 years at the Stanford Hospital and know nurses who graduated from different kinds of colleges, Universities, etc. i know a few who got their Bsns from USF ( where ill be attending this Fall) as well as San Jose State University, and others. I dont think you should worry where you go, as long as they are accredited and so on.
  9. We got some aid already, but still in process of some paper work. Yeah... Their deadline was like... Feb 2nd or something? Pretty darn early!Goodluck! Message me/ update here on your final decisions! You have to let USF know if you're going by May first though also, if you submitted your dorm housing, isnt that non-refundable? Like my USF housing contract says a 1,000$ fee will be charged if we do change our minds.
  10. She just heard from friends that its not a very good school for the kind of ' reputation' it has and for the large sum of tuituion they charge students. Its no Ivy league and does not have good standings. It seems some review sites have quite the extremes on both ends. Many dissatisfied students and some who enjoyed WCU. IMHO, its risky to attend WCU, but its different for everybody you know. Some people are smart and fast learners and maybe you'll have better luck with your professors and will graduate just fine. Its about 126k for 3 years or something? Have you read reviews Bout it? Id say go and attend their visitation program as well as USFs. Im not sure if ill be ttending USFs April 14 program. I might be going on the Friday April 13th with my mom to casually walk around. Yes. We submitted fafsa very early because we wanted to make sure we could get aid! School is about 56k a year LOL. Too bad we didnt hit the national record jackpot LOL. Oh wells
  11. Lol are you from SoCal? Sorry I don't remember if you said you were. I'm from San Jose, Bay area so USF is a nice area not too far, close enough to go home place. - not to discourage you from going to WCU, but my friend who's also a nursing student told me some things about WCU that may or may not appeal to some people. Make sure you do more research before your final decision! Yeah I'm waiting for final papers to go through for our faisal.
  12. Woohoo! Congrats! Where did you get into? And where do you think you'll go? :)
  13. LOL well my sisters attending UC Davis, so it's still a hefty price now with two college kids Lol. Not 'ballin'. I plan to pay my mom back haha. I'm not worried about my future so much after being a nurse. Gotta think about the good and not the bad! Ahh yeah!! I don't think we can pm each other since we're not 'privileged' members here. Here's my email though :) [email protected] --- and we can chat there!--yes. Check out the other school too because you never know! USF was the only nursing school I applied for this year so I dnt quite have an option, but it's a great school with a fantastic program. I worked with nurses at the Stanford Hospital and clinics who graduated from USF for Nursing. They said its awesome. So I'm glad to be attending this fall! Naw, I'm from the Cupertno- San Jose area. buti visit SF a lot for like fun things to do haha. No enough to know how it's like to live there. I have friends who live there and they say it's pretty nice compared to the slow urban life in the silicon valley. I'm looking forward to adapting and just enjoying the new enviornment! LOL I just got home and found that USF sent us an official packet!! I thought we just get the congrats email and the PDF. Buti guess we get the hard copy too haha.
  14. Ahh cool! I'll be there with my mom haha. Wait so does that mean you're attending USF for sure? Since you submitted your housing already right? I thought WCU is pretty expensive too? But yeah 18months beats 3.5yrs -__- I'm not worried because I cknow I can pay it all back afteri become a nurse. I'm looking at the bright side. Better than not getting into a program and waiting forever. I already waited a year( didn't get into USF or other schools last yr). I'm turning 22 this Summer so I just want to graduate and work as a nurse :) ...( my parents are also paying for my school.... That's why) Oh yeah so my names Lisa and I'm guessing you are Marissa! We can chat in person in 2 weeks!!
  15. Ohhh haha. Well that's cool because the freshmen dorms are in the lower campus, which is where most of the a acitivities are right? I'll have to hike up and down the Lone mountain hahaa. Oh well! The housing person didn't tell me what classes transferred over, but just said I had less than 40 units there. I don't know why my 3 years at JC didn't really carry more units over LOLs. So sad.Yay! So you are for sure going to USF right? I saw that you were split between USF and The WCU. Where is that to be exact? Also, are you going to the Admitted students visiting program April 14th? I RSVP and idk if anyone from this board will be going. It'd be cool tonsee each other!!
