  1. thank you for the info I'll look into it
  2. Predictibly this thread is not as long as the "what keeps you motivated thread" LOL it sure isnt pro-bono thats for sure. Oh, but I'm the one whose jaded...
  3. I'll give you a pass cuz Goose Goosage was my favorite pitcher. Maybe you're not but when you have posters in here talking about a "Mega Bathroom set" I suspect many more have the same desires.
  4. What is this? Watergate? Maybe I should be a neurologist because I've obviously touched a nerve. Oh well, I welcome any debates. Tell your friends at work theres a New Yawker in town who tells it like it is.
  5. I'm disputing the motives, the ideology nothing personal Mike.
  6. Err, maybe its me but the words anesthesia assistant both begin with AA..DUH. And they make peanuts, which is why none of you went that route. Oh and whats so wrong with my motivation. Why does it anger you and others so. Am I the first person in the history of health care to do it because the job he was working doesnt pay the bills. I think not. You dont know as much about hearts as you think hearticu:clown:
  7. Or like asking a women how much shopping is enough, or how much child support is enough...(oow did I say that?)
  8. I dont have a problem with the forum. I have a problem with people sugar coating their motives. All of you talking about you'd do this for regluar nurses pay can purchase this bridge in NY I have for sale. You can be an AA for 40k a year, yet you choose CRNA because thats where the Bucks are! Just like the movie Perfect Storm "Hey skip why are we going to the Flemish Cap?" "Cuz that's where the fish are!" I love this forum and would never disrespect it. I just feel people are not being truthful and hiding their motives with fallacious philanthropy. Its okay to want top dollar for your skill. Its okay not to want to scoop poop to get there. Why am I the forum bad guy?
  9. You make some excellent points. Yes, I'm in it for the money. Yes I want to just skip RN beside care and get to CRNA and the salary. I've paid my dues in IT and to start calling IT departments begging and hoping for a position is not my idea of a "step up". I need a field that hires what I'm busting my butt in school to learn. I dont think that's asking to much, nor do I think you're shallow for wanting top dollar for your skill. Please, if you only could see my car, you'd know I'm not a slave to material things. I'm thinking about my future and children.
  10. Oh Gawd! Thats such BS! Why dont you become a cop or a peace core volunteer if you want a "wonderful opportunity?" Its so funny that your "blessing" and your "dream" includes making 160k+ a year. You guys kill me...:roll
  11. No you're not to old. But humm, why do you want to be a CRNA of all the specialities? Its not because you started doing their cases, it because you found out how much they make. Once you admit that, then you'll be ready to decide if its right for you. Only you no the answer to that, because you could do a lot of things in nursing...thats if you really wanted to be just a nurse period.
  12. It doesnt seem like there are positions in the hospital for "Nursing Informatics". And more important, if the salaries vary from 35k to 90k thats not a good sign. I've been in the IT field for 6 years (help desk) and it's the same thing. One job offers you 12 and hour another may offer 17. I cant afford to get my BSN then my masters and find out I have to " be in the right place at the right time:confused: " The CRNA looks like the way to go for me. The pay is 6 figs across the board. Yes the money is important to me-to you too if you'd only admit it- and I need to know a job will be available when I graduate. I'm dreading having to clean poop for a year-and worse- but I'd struggle through it (with a pile of vics under my nose:scrying: ) Attack me if you want but it seems like you have to be really lucky to get a job as NI, and even then you'd probably could make more being a regular agency nurse...so why bother with the IT stuff? Its about money and having a need for your skill when you graduate. CRNA is the panacea for me. Just my 25 cents
  13. Oh yes I looked into that. But I admit I'm a capitalist pig. A whore when it comes to money. A person who once thought of being a lawyer for Christ's sake. An AA's dont cut the mustard. Sure, cast the first stone, ye all who dont dream of those lofty salaries or CRNA's. Nothing wrong with wanting to get paid well along with helping people for a living. I'm just dealing with my poopaphobia
  14. thanks for the replies. You guys make a lot of sense. I know anything worth having is worth working for. You gotta pay your dues. So...BRING ON THE POOP!
  15. I REALLY DONT want to clean patients and change colostomy bags for one minute. I have ten years EMT experience with a BA in psychology. I love the OR but I dont want to deal with bedside care ever again. Do I have the wrong attitude LOL. I cant be the only one. Decided law is not an option because of the high rate of unemployment and disatisfaction. Oh well... I want financial security like everyone else, but I dont think I can get through a year of wiping, floating from floor to floor, arrogant doctors, and general stress of nursing. Just being honest. Plus I'm already 33
  16. Let me guess London..um you're not a minority, so I wouldn't expect you to understand how ignorant thinking can hold a culture back. I do however respect your post via exclamation mark. After all, it is a free country where we can voice our opinion...humm, I thought that's what I was doing in the first place. P.S., feel free to have the last word, as I feel I've stated my argument without enimty.
  17. "Big body Benz", "mega master bedroom"? You must be from the hood or someone of color. Relax, I'm a minority too, and I recognize that type of thinking, not to mention the vernacular. You shouldn't choose a profession based on monitary rewards. Especially one in which you could cost someone their life. The life you describe is one similar to celebs, and I can't imagine the fustration you'll feel if you find out you can't live like P Diddy. I try to tell the young people in my neighborhood it's important to have aspirations based on realistic expectations. Sorry if I offended you. Oscar NY
  18. Hello Tom, Your words or very encouraging and came at the right time for me. I'm trying to decide on whether to go to law school and drown in debt, or to become a CRNA. I've been an EMT now for 10 years. I'm 32 so the window has passed for me to chose jobs based on whether I think the occupation will make me happy. I need to be realistic and get a career going in the near future. I'm a junior in college and contemplating on getting my BSN and then CRNA. I have no kids and I still live at home. I need to start a career ASAP. I know becoming a CRNA wont be easy, but I'm thinking it may be more realistic in my situation. I'm scared of being 36, 100K in debit and finding a job as new lawyer making less than 60K. Also I saw how the computer field got saturated. Do see this happening to CRNAs?
