  7. UF BSN-DNP 2015

Hey everyone - so the school called me Thursday with a clarifying question and told me they were making decisions next week. Not sure when that means we will be notified, but thought I would share the info :). Good luck to all!!!!
  8. Accepatnce letter to NS with a catch?!

My program had this - we had to take test every semester to stay in too. 95% or above - two tries only. You will do great - just take your time. Good luck!!! :)
  9. Persistence Pays Off for New Grads

INN_777 - If you are a volunteer, then use someone you know at the hospital to get you in front of a recruiter. You would be amazed how many people are willing to help if you speak up. Ask a nurse manager or any manager to help you get 10 minutes of ...
  10. Persistence Pays Off for New Grads

As many new nurses know, the "nursing shortage" is over. It is so challenging to find a new graduate position these days in many areas of the country. I had one nurse recruiter recently tell me for every new graduate position posted, they receive 10...
  11. Persistence Pays Off for New Grads

TooProudToMention - See my previous reply to sMolsNurse, but also I contacted every hospital in the area. Surprisingly, I had one nurse recruiter tell me she only replies to people who contact her at least 3 times a week for a month...I think that is...
  12. Persistence Pays Off for New Grads

sMoLsNurse - started by saying (or writing - sometimes I had to email and I found email addresses by searing online for hospital x nurse recruiter) something to the effect of "I have a sincere interest of working at your hospital. I realize how comp...
  13. NCLEX Tips - One I Never Knew

Ok everyone - I am going to make this quick. Before I took my NCLEX, I too was freaking out. I get horrible test anxiety and was terrified. I did the online Kaplan class and had scores from 55-78 on the trainers. I had a zillion practice books too - ...
  14. Failed nursing school but didn't give up!

I logged in tonight to see if anyone ever felt like I do - I am in an accelerated BSN program and am just overwhelmed sometimes. Classes start back up Monday but I am already anxious and have begun studying. Your post helped me realize that many peop...
  15. How far would you commute to nursing school?

I drive just over an hour each way - some days it is closer to 2 when the weather is bad. There are pros and cons but in my opinion it's worth it. Plus it's only for a short time in the grand scheme. Good luck!
  16. Accepted but waiting for another program

I know a few people in this situation (different schools) - they are all accepting at one in hopes for another. I think this is common since every program I know of has a considerable waitlist. Good luck!
  17. I got a job!!!! BOO-YOW!

This thread has been so encouraging! Thanks for all the good advice - I am just about to begin an accelerated BSN program and like others was concerned with all the negative news out there. Thanks!
  18. 2012-2013 HRSA Nursing Scholarship Application

  20. 2012 UNF Accelerated BSN Hopefuls

Seaglassgreen - I checked in here today to see if you got word. So sorry you are in limbo - I was hoping you got good news. Would anyone who got a letter mind telling me the RSVP date please? My letter still did not come. Thank you.
  21. 2012 UNF Accelerated BSN Hopefuls

Danielle3352 - I know. I feel like I have nothing lose with JU except money and nothing to lose with UNF except time. Need to figure out which is more valuable to me at this point as they are both excellent programs. Good luck - keep me posted!
  22. 2012 UNF Accelerated BSN Hopefuls

Yes I did as well. (I tried to reply to your message but I am new to this site and haven't made enough posts to use the private message function.)
  23. 2012 UNF Accelerated BSN Hopefuls

Alf0880 - no that's not an option. If you say no to rpl you lose your chance at the accelerated. (I verified.) And I am with you - very grateful.
  24. 2012 UNF Accelerated BSN Hopefuls

Alf0880 - I know it is a big difference and a huge decision to make. I wish us both luck on figuring it out. Let me know what you decide (if you don't mind) and I will do the same. Roemerr - I already have health insurance - sorry I don't have any i...
  25. 2012 UNF Accelerated BSN Hopefuls

I am in the same boat as a few of you - accepted into traditional but wanted accelerated. While the traditional is one extra term it is also nine months longer - there is no option to take classes in the summer of 2013 for those accepted into the sum...
