  1. I recently just passed the CCRN in March. The only thing I used was the PassCCRN book. I really just used the disc with test questions and used the book when I didn't understand something. The book is great but very hard to read consistently due to the amount of info.
  2. If codes are the reason the move is holding you back, I wouldn't worry about to much. In my experience you can be as involved or un-involved in a code as you please. Most of the time we have a ton of people respond regardless of what side of the unit the code is taking place. If it's actually your pt coding, your main job most of the time is to give the history to the responding physician and recording what is actually happening. Other team-mates will be handling the drugs, compressions, monitors etc....so don't let codes hold you back.
  3. I was just wondering if anyone out there has gone from RN to PA and if so, how was the transition? Did you find the material easy to grasp? I've really been going back and forth about what upper-level degree I really want to do...I come from a EMS background and went to nursing school for the challenge and experience. I've been a RN a little over a year working mainly in the ICU with a few shifts here and there in the ER. I thought about anesthesia at first but the job market around me is saturated with Nurse Anesthetists and there doesn't seem to be as many options for specialties in the nurse practitioner field. Plus, 2 new PA programs just opened in my area....any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  4. Thanks a lot for the recommendations! Ill def be checking these out...I need all the reading material I can get.....there's not much else to do where im going. Thanks!
  5. Hey guys, im a new grad who just passed boards and im going to be leaving the country for a year at the end of march. Ill be practicing as a medic (no hospital time) and I was wondering about some good reading material on critical care/emergency nursing to keep me up to snuff while im away. These are the fields ill be getting into when I get back. Any good suggestions I would really appreciate it!
