Primary track peds. I would for sure go on to get my acute care certification or work with the program to complete extra requirements, etc. The other program, it's straight FNP

0Hi! I've been a RN for 4 years - 2 years pedi experience and 1-2 of adult med surg/trauma. I just got accepted to Texas Tech PNP program and UT Tyler FNP program. I'm having the WORST time deciding. I've exhausted all my searches and contacts, and I'm just not sure. FNP seems better opportunity wise, but I do love children. I know I love working in the hospital- don't even care what unit! im nervous that if I choose one vs the other, it will hurt me in the long run. Especially living near Austin, Texas-- the job market isn't that great now. Advice or experience is greatly appreciated!

Thanks everyone for the input and advice. I told my manager I would like days is she still is offering it to me! I used to do nights every now and then and it make me feel weak and groggy the next day. Plus, I finally have time for all the people I neglected while in nursing school (and my regular bachelors and masters programs before that! )

Thank you for the advice! :) right now I'm leaning towards day shift even though it'll be less money long term. Plus my preceptor told me that the girl that had the job I have now left night shift because she was being bullied a bit by night shift staff.

Im a new nurse and was hired to a busy ortho/trauma (med surg floor). So far ive only had three days on the floor with my preceptor (who is amazing so far). We do 12 hour shifts with a 10 percent shift differential for night shift. I was hired for nights, but my manager came to me yesterday and offered me days if I want it. It's so busy there time just flies by (knock on wood it stays like that). Im really torn because I love my sleep and my relationships with my friends and boyfriend, but I know there's more money in nights and It might be a good place to learn. Im used to working 3 to 11 on a pysch floor as a tech. Any advice from some seasoned nurses?

The hospitals in the Einstein network also require new hires to have a BSN. They might consider you if you are currently enrolled in a BSN program but it would be hard to say since there's so much competition in the area.

They wont accept just anyone...you have to have a A/B in A&P I/II in order to get accepted. They say specifically to retake it if you get a C. I know someone who I think was a better candidate than me but go a C in A/P and didn't get in (and I did).

I went to an information session at UMDNJ in stratford two weeks ago. You HAVE to have an A or B in A&P. They said retake the class if you get a C.

i went to one open house, and the one for drexel is not until the end of april. oh boy! deciding on grad school was easier than this. thanks for the input! :)

I know they say we can't work while in the ACE program and some current students I've talked to advise against it...but then I've met a couple that make it work but picking up shifts every now and then - obviously not full time! Advice/input?

You have 60 days from the date of your acceptance letter to send in a deposit. (at least that's what my acceptance letter said!) I think we start in September ... like the second or third week! The academic calendar was tricky to find online. I called admissions and the next information session is April 24th...bummer but I'm going to go anyway because more information is always better! The Drexel ACE students at the hospital I work at currently scare the living crap out of me when they talk about the program...plus the cost...which is why I haven't made a decision yet. But still...exciting!!!!!

Hi everyone.... I need some perspective. I got into both Drexel and UMDNJ Stratford. Even though UMDNJ is 15 months vs 11 months and 10,000 dollars cheaper, I am losing months and money by staying in the program for a couple more months to save 10,000 (I'd be spending average 3000 for 3 months of expenses and a total of 2500 tolls/gas (5500 dollars). Also - UMDNJ does not use HESI and Drexel does - I'm not sure how that compares/matters. But I hear Drexel is impossible and I would like to not fail the program, obviously. Thoughts or experiences? Thanks!
