  1. Hi, I just saw this post and was very interested. I am currently about half way done with my MSN program for nursing informatics. I would love to have a network of other newbies!
  2. Hi Everyone, I know I have seen posts in regards to the difference in nursing informatics and an analyst. I am considering applying for a position that is called an application systems analyst. From what has been said and the description, I believe this would be considered an informatic position. Hoping someone could shed some light for me. Does anyone work in this role? As someone who hopes to get into nursing informatics, is this something for me? I was also concerned that if it wasn't specifically nursing- does it make it difficult to renew your RN?? Also, any salary info? Thank you !
  3. Thank you so much for the great info! The way you describe it I am def thinking that the analyst is more of what I have in mind. Any ideas of what kind of salary that position makes? Also, some posts are taking about crazy long hours is that something you would see in a analyst position? I really appreciate the reply- I have found I love using a computer system, feeling like an expert, and being able to help and guide others!
  4. Hi everyone, Trying to find out a little more about nursing IT and informatics! Once you get a MSN in informatics what types of positions are those employed in? I see listing like Informatics Specialist or director. Im not sure managment is for me , more the IT side and helping to improve patient care with technology and helping staff use it. I was wondering if this sort of desire fit into getting a informatics degree or are the positions mostly management ?
  5. I am looking into Walden Informatics as well and am def. leaning towards that program! Have others graduated and gotten jobs? If so what is your title? Anybody willing to share salary expectations? I am def excited but what I have heard about the program.
  6. I recently applied and completed the online questionare. Does anyone know how much they offer RN's? Anyone work there that could share whats its like to work at home?
  7. Hi, I have been a nurse now for 3.5 years on a busy inpt peds unit. Same ole story: we are freq. under staffed, I am working night shift, never take breaks... etc I no longer enjoy my job and freq feel defeated. The problem is I am only 25 I have wanted try other avenues of nursing like a clinic or I have been doing some research on call center nursing. Sometimes i feel too young to already want to leave the hospital tho. Does anyone know what kind of salary a call center nurse can expect? Would it be a bad decision this early in my career? Would love to hear frm someone in my boat that found somethig they like. My plan is to stay on PRN at the hospital to keep my foot in on clinical work... but I simply can't keep doing this.
