  1. I'm wondering if there is anyone here who has gotten their CNA degree at NCNA in Daly City, California? I'm thinking of getting certified this summer before I start my nursing program in the fall, this way I can maybe get a job as a CNA and get some experience while in nursing school. Thanks :)
  2. Thanks Ileese! I won't be going to the ASVP then just the shadow program. Apparently we attend some kind of a admitted students info session there as well. I"ll let you know how it was. :) Thanks again and yes the weather is supposed to be awesome here as well!
  3. Hey Ileese, did you find the ASVP helpful and worth going to? I RSVPed for this Saturday but something equally important came up so I'm wondering what I should do. Was it a very general session (for all admitted students) or were you able to find out more info specific to us nursing students? I'm shadowing a nursing student at USF this Friday, so I'm thinking maybe I can just ask him/her some questions instead of going to the ASVP. :)
  4. @ ashymuhlee I know how you feel, I think that is the hardest thing: not knowing why you were rejected. This was my first time applying but I know that when my sister didn't get into UCLA she was devastated. GPA: My pre-req GPA is 3.8 and my overall GPA is 3.92. Volunteer/work: I've been volunteering at the CPMC Emergency Room for over a year, I also volunteer at a women's clinic where I educate young women about domestic violence. I have two jobs: home health aide + nanny. Letter of rec: I submitted one (I thought we were only allowed to submit one ). My letter of rec was written by my supervisor, who also happens to be one of my patient's (home care) daughter. I felt that my GPA and transcript would adequately reflect my academic skills so I chose my supervisor over a teacher from school. Languages: not sure if that had anything to do with it, but I'm fluent in 4 languages, I think I mentioned it somewhere but forgot where Personal Statement: focused on my childhood spent in Holland, some of the hardships and obstacles I had to overcome. I don't want to share the whole essay but my last paragraph kind of sums up my whole essay: I believe that attending the University of San Francisco, and being surrounded by people who may or may not share similar perspectives and traditions, but share the same feelings and commitments to equality and justice, will help me develop more in to the human being that I strive to become while enabling me to hopefully set an example that inspires future generations. I am confident that the University of San Francisco will serve as not only a stable rock and foundation, but also as a much needed stepping stone to become an architect of change while assisting others and helping them find that moment, person or environment in their lives that could change everything; their 'Milosevic moment'.
  5. Congrats Ok26! :) @Lyricalluna: the welcome packet (PDF), and congratulations email was sent to us I think monday morning. I didn't call or email them, they sent it out on their own. Hope you hear something soon!
  6. @ileese got it thanks! I am happy, USF was my first choice too so I'm just glad to be in :) @ok26 Yeah, the email says it will take 7 semesters to complete. I didn't email him, it seems like an email all nursing admits get. Are you sure you didn't get it?
  7. Yup I got that email too! One semester is not bad compared to some other schools :) Ileese did you get your USF id nr yet? I can't rsvp online without that.
  8. @ok26 Yes definitely go share the good news! :) I've been so nervous ever since the beginning of this month, glad its finally over! My friend loves the program, she says the teachers are great, they genuinely care about all their students and do everything humanly possible to help them succeed. So excited! Hope all the folks outside the bay get good news soon!
  9. Congrats Ileese!! Haha yeah omg i was freaking out when my boyfriend said I received a POSTCARD from USF, i though oh god, they probably send postcards to rejected students. I hope we get a packet or something soon :)
  10. Thanks guys! @ Lyricalluna Congrats on getting into Dominican! Not sure how USF is with waiting for clinicals either. Does anyone else? @OK26 Yes I'm sure! I asked a student who's already in the program, she said she had a similar thing happen to her last year, and that a formal letter will follow soon. I mean the first line says: Congratulations on your admission to the University of San Francisco. That should tell you enough Congrats btw!! @R3rohrer I live in SF, do you live in SF or somewhere else in the bay area? Don't be nervous! :)
  11. Has anyone heard back? I just got a letter that I got accepted and an invitation to join the admitted student visit program. I'm so happy! Hope you guys get good news soon! (they sent mine out yesterday so maybe for those who are not in the city or bay area it can take a little longer) good luck!
  12. R3roher, did you talk to the general admissions office or the nursing admissions? I just got an email today saying: "The decision made on your application will come in the form of a decision letter and is not posted to the application status screen on our website-so you will no longer need your password to login. Because of the volume of applicants to review, our admission counselors do not begin mailing our decision letters until mid-March. You can expect--at the earliest--to receive your decision starting then." So it seems like we're all getting letters.
  13. Giant Panda, just read your PM but I can't PM you back because I haven't posted enough topics or something. Anyways, you can just leave another message with your email and I'll just get back to you then
  14. Okay, please let me know what you find out from them :) If you get in, message me and I might be able to help you. I've a few college friends who are looking for roommates, so if you're interested let me know. Have you applied to other schools or just USF?
  15. By the way Giant Panda, I'm not sure what those status boxes are. Mine are blank, yours too? I'm from SF so I'm really hoping I get in get accepted. I'm ******* nervous :)
