  1. Oh cool - see you then!
  2. That's excellent news Midwife22! Congrats! I think that means we will be doing some classes together, right? I can't believe you are only 22! Ha, I guess I could have guessed from your username. I am 28 - you've got PLENTY of time to develop your career on any path you find best. I've been a lab researcher, a psychiatric researcher, an ESL teacher and a writer/editor (but have known that I've wanted to be a PMHNP during the last 3 of those jobs). Take advantage of great opportunities as they present themselves and I promise you will end up exactly where you want to be in the end :)
  3. That isn't the best news... please keep me posted...
  4. I got an email this morning - and I'm in!! My heart sunk when I saw that I had received an email (rather than a packet or phone call) but it turns out that they had my old overseas phone number on file, not my Portland number. Otherwise they would have called, they said. Enrollment packets for psych students to be sent out this week. Wow! Fingers crossed for the rest of you.. I really want to go to school with you guys!
  5. haaa. you actually got that stuck in my head! thanks = P
  6. gypsynurse - you will just have to email the admissions for each school and ask. I was actually really surprised at what schools did and didn't accept online A&P. For example, OHSU and UCSF said no problem, whereas Seattle University said no. I had to cross about 4 schools off of my list because I had to take anatomy online. I know VCU and USM also accept online anatomy (with lab).
  7. I feel like I should add a bit more about the online anatomy class at WVU. If you want to pay $1200 for access to a bunch of online lecture notes and outdated powerpoints.. then WVU is the place for you! There is no activity on the discussion board .. I have no idea how many other students are taking the class right now nor have I ever communicated with any of them. The 'professor' never contacts us at all. We just get email reminders from the tech guy a few days before the exams, reminding us to take them. In other words, if you are the type of student that needs to communicate, ask questions, get feedback from others, etc., in order to well in a class, the WVU anatomy class is not for you. If you can buckle down and read all the online notes and the text, and do all the online and book exercises, you'll be fine (I think I have a 94% in the lab and a 96% in the lecture portion at the moment). All the exams are open book/open note.. because, like I said, you just sign up, fork over the dough, and no one really gives a damn about you! :)
  8. Me TOO. I just want to know my future already so I can start really throwing myself into my plans. It is so crazy that I don't even know where I will be living in a month and a half!
  9. I'm taking Anatomy online through WVU right now. I am paying nearly $1200 and the support is very minimal. It was the best I could find, though... there really aren't very many great options out there!
  10. Sorry to hear that, machokid, but definitely stay optimistic and feel proud you were asked to interview. Not a small feat! Thanks for the acceptance info you guys passed along. I read on the FAQs that they accepted 15-16 students, but I don't know why I assumed that was 16ish for each track, rather than between them. Had I known I might have applied to the Accelerated BSN, too. Bummer. I still have a "Plan B" so I am trying not to be too worried... OHSU is my dream school, though, so it will be hard not to feel discouraged if I don't get in this year. The most important thing is becoming an NP, so let's not lose sight of our ultimate goals!
  11. Does anyone know how many students they are accepting this year? I read on last year's forum that they only took 8 for PMH and 8 for Midwifery..
  12. That is really incredible. If going to Africa to volunteer is your Plan B, it sounds like you live a really full and interesting life! I just got back to the States after 4 years abroad. It is weird being home but I feel completely ready to start school now. I don't think I was before.
  13. Hey lalala, Excellent post. Your ex-students must've been sent off on the right track! :) Could you tell me about how long it was between the interview and receiving your packet? I am in post-interview purgatory... haha. As for the other posters wanting stats... are you applying to midwifery or psych? I can share my stats that got me at least to the interview stage. Send me a PM if interested!
  14. Congratulations lalala! That is so exciting! I had my interview this morning and I feel really good about it. I didn't give perfect answers to every question, of course, but I felt that I conveyed my experiences and personality and passion for being an NP very well. So I've done the best that I can -- if I don't get in that must mean there is someone better qualified to take my position, so hat's off to them! They said they hoped to have PMHNP decisions filtered through the admissions process by April 1. (Not a definitive deadline, but an estimate). So back to the waiting game!
  15. I asked admissions when the psych applicants would be notified of final decisions and they said "sometime in April". I guess since the midwife applicants were interviewed last month, then maybe it will be "sometime in March" for you guys. Good luck, everyone! I hope to meet some of you on campus this summer ... fingers crossed ...
