  1. I just got off the phone with admissions and I have some information. As of this moment, the 2012 cohort for the Acc Bacc to Master's in Nurse-Midwifery is filled. As has been mentioned repeatedly, it ain't over till it's over, so some alternates may still potentially get in, but currently, there are no more open spaces. I do not want to be the bearer of bad news, but I do want to share this info because if any of you are like me, you'd like to have at least a modicum of closure in this matter. I'm tired of living in complete limbo.
  2. Congrats psych08! :-D
  3. insert Jeopardy theme music here. ;-)
  4. I called on Monday and admissions said they still had openings for the Acc Bacc nurse-midwifery program. Has anyone heard anything this week?
  5. At the January potluck one of the faculty members mentioned that the number of students they accept into the Acc Bacc to Master's program is limited specifically by the accelerated portion of the program. From what I understand, the Acc Bacc to Master's students attend classes and clinicals concurrently with the Accelerated BSN students. Because admissions into the Accelerated BSN program are the priority for OHSU, space is very tight for the Acc Bacc to Master's students (who are a minority in terms of applicant types).
  6. Midwife22, why do you speak Swahili? That is so specific and interesting!
  7. Thanks lalala. In case you're curious, I was asking because I know that they select their students through a point based system and speaking a language other than English equals more points than speaking English alone. :-)
  8. Hey lalala, do you speak more than one language?
  9. I got into Marquette, which has a good program and was my second choice. I got wait list for Vanderbilt, but their program entails a LOT of travel so I didn't confirm the wait list for that one... I can't move my household to a different part of the country every semester, it just isn't feasible.
  10. I'm on the waitlist, just got the letter today. Now it's time to make some serious decisions.
  11. Waitlist isn't a bad thing. Not everyone who is accepted will necessarily choose to attend. Did you apply to any other schools? Another thing to consider is that in the final semester of the master's portion of this program the students go to other clinical sites for their integration. If you attend another school, there is a possibility that you could do integration @ OHSU. I know one of the current nurse midwives/faculty ended up working there because she did her integration @ OHSU but got her training elsewhere. So there are all SORTS of ways to get into OHSU!
  12. Congratulations areawoman! Still nada for me. I'm trying to use this as an opportunity to detach myself and introspectively understand how to untangle the threads of wanting to be at OHSU so badly with the numerous other possibilities for becoming a nurse midwife. Because that is ultimately what this whole thing is about. Becoming a nurse midwife so I can advocate and provide a service to people who need very badly to have a voice in their own health care. The nurse midwife I will become in the future is decided by who I am rather than where I am. But it would be soooooo freakin' awesome to get into OHSU. I did say I am trying, not that I've succeeded yet! ;-)
  13. Thanks for all the info lalala and midwife22...at least we have something to go off of now....other than our frayed and tattered nerves I mean!
  14. Thanks for the heads up Midwife22! Glad your interview went well!:yelclap:
