  1. hello, American Sentinel University (online) and UMDNJ in New Jersey (both CCNE accredited) accept non nursing masters degrees.
  2. I also wanted to share: nclexreviewers.com/tag/nclex-bullets Its a quick and dirty "bullet" fact sheet to give you basic facts and many students have found it helpful. You can put in any category and you will get a list of facts on the subject. A great little review.
  3. Hello, I posted this somewhere else (not sure where, lol), but I do know a lot of students who took the nclexrnprep .com and passed. The rationals really help and it is timed so it gives you the "added pressure" the real exam gives you to help desensitize you from test taking. There a code for 10% off if you like to purchase but you can do some sample tests for free first to see if its for you. Use this code if you decide to buy to save $: SAVE ZCEJ Best wishes
  4. Hello Jobhunting and Hello NurseGreta, First, Jobhunting, I echo NurseGreta's comments, great advice. ACLS is an excellent idea. Think about it, if YOU were going to hire one new grad out of the 100s of resumes, what would you look for? An applicant who has ACLS? An applicant who is serious and demonstrates that by belong to a nursing organization (p.s. join now for a student discount).....an applicant who lists volunteer experience? An applicant who was a student ambassador, student government, etc? The goal of the resume is make yourself stand out from the competition. Did you observe any new or innovative procedure....then list it :) Moreover, since the push for Magnet designation is huge for hospitals, a BSN is typically always preferred, so enroll in a program and list it as "to be awarded xxx". Your resume can be chronological or functional formated or even a combined. Use one inch margins, headings, and helvetica, times roman, or arial font / 10-12 pt. NurseGreta, I think an online prep is a fabulous idea! Let me know if you do so I can tell my colleagues! Best wishes for continued success!
  5. I agree with the comment, two pages are fine, but use one inch margins, 10 or 12 font and arial, helvetica or times roman. You can choose a chronological, functional or a combined method. Make sure your name, address, email, etc is on the second page (if you choose to use a second page).
  6. Hi, although Im in the MSN track, I have referred several friends to the RN-BSN through American Sentinel's distance education. The nursing students will be awarded 30 semester hours based on their current Registered Nurse license, which means you just take 30 more credits to complete the online RN to BSN degree. The program is accredited, helpful and seamless. I can afford them and I haven't had any issues. Contact me for more info, if you'd like.
  7. Hello, I am certified through ANCC - American Nurses Credentialing Center - ANCC - American Nurses Credentialing Center - ANCC . I would like to stay in administration and would like the DNP. I have found a handful of accredited DNP programs that will honor a non-nursing master degree (and Im thrilled and happy to share what I found if you'd like), however, it is just disturbing that only a few do honor it. I'm also happy to say that I did find an online MSN program (CCNE accredited) that will take 18 of my previous MS credits and allow for portfolio credit, so I am 3/4 into a MSN program already!!!! But, it just amazes me the loops and bumps you have to jump through in order to further your education in nursing...especially with the IOM / Future of Nursing Campaign. Isn't the goal to double the number of DNP's? Currently fewer than 1% of nurses have a doctoral degree. I see a plethora of RN-BSN and RN-MSN programs, but where is the bridge to DNP? Many RNs with a non-nursing bachelors degree take one or two "bridge" courses and they can transition into the MSN. I would like to bring attention to nursing academia that there is a large proportion of RNs with MBA, MHA, etc. who are very credible and worthy of entering a DNP. Where is our bridge? I haven't enrolled in the DNP's that will honor a non-nursing masters since I first found this MSN program. I feel I should just complete this since I started it :) Any thoughts?
  8. Hi, many other students I know passed NCLEX using www nclexrnprep They provide a promo code for students to save 10%: SAVE-ZCEJ . I like that it is timed, provides rationals and you can order as many or as little test questions as your budget allows. A great resource. Best wishes!
  9. I have found a lot of students use NCLEXRNPrep.com If you want to save 10%, use promo code SAVE-ZCEJ Hope this helps, I loved it.
  10. hello bewellplaywell, I just happened to note you are studying for the ANCC. I just sat for the boards and passed! I used a great site with review questions and rationals. Let me know if you would like more information. I was very happy with the product and glad I used it. which exam are you sitting for?
  11. Hello, I think you just gave yourself the best advice…..shadow a nurse in different specialties. Call you pediatrician / doctor's office and ask if you can shadow the nurse for the day. This will give you a taste for ambulatory / pediatric nursing. Network with friends, colleagues, faculty and ask them if they know of nurses you could contact to shadow. I would encourage you to do the same for medical assisting and any other career. Don't let one day or a few hours make or break your decision. I advise you to keep taking college level courses in the sciences while you shadow others and I think this will help you in finding your niche. Best wishes!
  12. I am a RN, BSN and a master degree in health administration (MS). I was very upset to find that so many colleges and universities require that I obtain a nursing administration (MSN) in order to enter into the DNP. Could someone help me understand how a non nursing masters degree (MBA, MHA, MS) could not be credible enough to enter an executive leadership/administrative DNP track? I am also discouraged that the profession will not allow me to teach leadership in nursing at the bachelors level since my masters is not a MSN. I am a board certified nurse executive with over 15 years experience. Anyone else have these issues?
  13. you should sign up on linked in! I would advise you to give more specifics of your charge nurse responsibilities - what specifically have you done? Did you manage people? What type of job are you looking for? Why are you looking to leave after a year?
