  3. Hi there, some study tips from someone who took the exam a year after graduating . I read the entire Saunders Comprehensive Nclex Review , I did all of Kaplans Qbank questions and a few other ones I would find online , there is also a few free apps with tons of questions , did about a total of 2700questions . There is also a study guide in one of the forums here I used , that was pretty helpful but most importantly keeping the faith , praying for strength when I felt like giving up. Happy to say I passed the nclex first time with 75questions. Good luck to you
  4. Hi everyone, good luck to you all . Keep in mind that no matter how much you study you will never feel prepared for an exam like the nclex . I tested a year after graduating and passed first time with 75questions . I took about a month and half to prepare I read Saunders Comprehensive review , yes the entire book and completed all of Kaplans Qbanks ...did about a total of 2700questions . There's is also a study guide around here I used on days before testing and most importantly praying when I felt like giving up ...thank you God for giving me the strength .. Will keep you guys in my prayers ..Gluck
  5. I tested almost a year after graduating as well, but I took almost a whole month to study , I read Saunders Comprehensive Review and did about 2000 questions , I passed first time with only 75questions , I can tell you that no matter how much you study you will never be prepared for an exam like the NCLEX so only you know if you are ready , I'm truly sorry for the losses and misfortunes you've been experiencing , I will pray for you buddy ....have some faith and good luck :)
  6. Well my case was fairly recent as well, like I said when I initially applied to the board I was sill on informal probation , I got terminated early from probation and expunged my DUI typically to qualify for an early release of probation you should have completed at least half of the court ordered probation , but it's worth a try, don't forget in order to be released from probation you will have to complied with everything the court ordered, classes done and fines paid...keep trying there is light at the end of the tunnel, and when you feel like giving up like I did a few times just pray and ask God for the strength .
  7. Initially I wrote a letter explaining what had happened and how I have rehabilitated since then, I also included reference letters from school , colleagues and even a work evaluation, I also submitted proof of any court ordered programs I had to complete, in my appeal letter I had included proof of termination from court ordered probation and proof of dismissal of my charges also known as an expungement....I would recommend sending all and everything you have to show proof that you have rehabilitated...good luck buddy ...I test in about a month
  8. Well in my case after receiving a denial letter from the board I wrote them telling them I wanted to appeal the decision and possibly enter into a stipulated agreement . A few weeks later they withdrew the denial and allowed me to test . I'm now waiting for a test date.
  9. Hello , just want to say thanks to bpowers5211 for this awesome thread which was of great help to me in dealing with the BRN. I was in a similar situation DUI a few months before being accpeted into a nursing program, after graduation I applied to the BRN sent in all supporting documents ( work evaluation, refrence letters, police reports ect.) only to be denied 3 months later, I was pretty devestated, had lost all hope but decided to appeal, looooong story short the board dropped the charges and I just got my letter in the mail allowing me to test almost a whole year after graduation. I would recommend having your case dissmissed with the court who convicted you and if your still on court ordered probation getting released early , as well as complying with whatever terms the court had given you. I know every case is different but please please dont give up, know that God didnt let you come this far to let a pebble in the road stop you. Have faith and pray, accpet your mistakes and move on dont beat yourself up for it. We all make mistakes but sometimes those mistakes can make us better human beings and in our case a better nurse. Wish all of you good luck, and God Bless...p.s dont forget to pray :)
