I am so sorry you went through all of the problems that you did. Nursing has become so dangerous, I don't want to be in it anymore. Too bad, b/c I need the money and have to find other ways to earn it. But the risks are just too much, I don't want them in my life anymore. I was so, so proud to be a nurse when I was young. I was always a good nurse too. But things are not what they used to be, nursing has changed into a devil of a job. It was always hard work, but the new reality is that nurses are risking their necks out there just to earn a living. And the State BON is not helping us by their witch hunts. It's true some nurses should not be nurses. But when people can frame other nurses, or write up vindictive lies and the board believes them - it's just too much, just too dangerous

do not sign anything for the state board investigations without express approval of your attorney, b/c if you do, you will regret it in the end! exercise that legal right to have the opinon of your attorney. why are there not classes available for nurses in nurses school about how state boards operate?

Nurses have zero idea of what dealing with the board is really like unless they are in up to their neck with it. The most important things to know when dealing with the boards are: 1.Do not say anything to any state board employee, or investigator without saying it through the mouth of your attorney. 2.Do not write anything to the state board about anything unless it is word for word approved by your attorney. 3. Do not let fear and procrastination push you to do things at the last minute, it will work against you in the end. Start working on your own case now. 4. Never forget: The board is nearly impossible to deal with: they are not your understanding types, and they are not your friends. 5.You must find out what your chance of success or failure is and weigh that against the amount of money you will want to spend. 6. learn to meditate, or do yoga or take up prayer, b/c you're gonna need it!

The company you work for will probably report you as fired to the State Board. And from there on out, things get nasty. Do not assume that your reasons for not going to work will be heard by understanding ears, and the more you try to explain, the worse it will get. Better to just find someone to take care of the kids even if it is a neighbor that you have to beg and then give two weeks notice to your boss stating that because you are a single mom, you must find work closer to home. Why would you want to work for such a threatening employer? That in itself is dangerous to your future and the well being of your family.

Better get a lawyer.

I am 57, Tuesday I will be 58. Does that make me a second class citizen? And, by the way - when you are 58, will you want someone wo call you an old woman? And yes, I have a very nice looking, happy, healthy and bright 10 year old who is very happy to be alive. Today he was running all over the house yelling and laughing at the top of his voice playing with his friends. Tonight he is with his friends and their mom having a fun time. I think in short, my son has learned that he is happy to be alive. And I am very glad I have the privilege of having him for my son. Oh, and by the way, I always did look young for my age, but I think I'll have plastic surgery when I get old-"er". Why not???

Call the State Board of Nursing. They know everything! What you need to know is are they REAL at that price! Once you get out there in the working world, I don't think they give a hoot about where you went to school, or even your grades or your state test exam grades. If you pass those tests, you're doing well. They do care about your title though. Titles count in nursing. Don't go to LPN school, you will regret that. And before all of you flame me for that, just know I have been a LPN for 25 years. I never had the money, or the time to continue but I have regretted being an LPN almost from the day one. Why? Well.... My mother - in - law just died. The nursing home was called a rehab center. Believe me, I could not get her out of there fast enough. We've all seen bad staffing ratios and I think that instead of quitting their jobs, nurses should find ways to truly make a difference. But, yes - I know, quitting is easier than a fight with the facility. I think nursing home AND a hospital staffing ratios should be monitored every day by authorities. But,how to do that? Not cost effective? Then what is a life worth anyway? Also, the place my MIL was in had bad odors and needed paint!

Used to wear caps and dress whites. Hate them. Scrubs!

My son has a wonderful life. I am out with him and he has friends all ove the place. He has two dogs. I ride a bicycle and raise hamsters. AND, I love it. There are some 40 year olds who look, feel and act older than I do. I figure when I get older and need care or just die, I will have raised my son to be very independant and able to care for himself.There is some money set aside for him too. And as far as him taking care of me. Well...what about me taking care of my father when I was 27? My mother when I was 50? I can tell you, it was easier on me when I was 27 to deal with a dying parent than it was when I was 50. Now, trust this one - at age 58, I would not try to have another child. But at age 48, I would do it all over again. G

From what I can see, the BON sides with those people who are in the most powerful position. Sometimes the person in the most powerful position is corrupt, pure and simple. It works with reporting nurses and it works with nursing reporting those in power. And my position on working with people, and the narcs...just keep your own trail cleaned up, all your signitures where they are supposed to be and it will be impossible for anything to get blamed on YOU. Writing and counting narcs should be on the top of your list right next to the priority of a CODE and that's on every shift. And for those of you who the SBON forces to go into confession time every time you apply for a job...just leave the profession, it will be easier for you, much easier. Because the attitudes out there will fry you. And in my 25 years of a nurse, I found out that no matter what they say, there are NO secrets. If your DON knows, the staff knows. Period. Sorry, this is not meant to be harsh, it's just plain truth though. In 25 years, I've seen it all. G

It's just too easy for people to write false reports about nurses to the BON. These reports become a living nightmare for the victim.
