  1. Thank you much sarah.b, I think I'm just getting a little scared. But I think I'll be fine, I usually am Thanks for the clarification. It always helps to have someone in the cohorts ahead who can clarify these things. Thanks again!
  2. Thanks for the info. So one more question, I am not the "traditional" student in the nursing program. I am a mother and wife, so I have other obligations as well but school is my priority at the moment. I will be taking two religion classes (RG and RC) to meet that requirement, at the same time I am taking NURS 220. I just looked at the schedule that the Prof. has put out and it's pretty hefty. What was your load when you took NURS 220? And is this first class pretty much like a CNA class or is it more in depth?
  3. Hello again, Getting ready to start the BSN program this Spring 2014. Very excited I just got done with my nursing health packet and dropped that in the mail today. So, currently I'm taking GUR's at PLU. But I am wondering if any current students have any advice for those of us starting up pretty soon? How are the instructors? Scheduling? For our first class, NURS 220, I see that the lab and clinical run from 6 am to 11:40 as a range. How have you dealt with scheduling on those days? If there is anything else you care to share, please do! At this point the anticipation is killing me!
  4. BlessedinBL, CONGRATS! I am also starting in the Spring. Would be nice to know who I am taking classes with before hand. I am transferring from pierce college. Are you from the area also?
  5. @JenEvans So excited to get started in the Spring! Unfortunately, I do not have my AA degree and I will be starting university requirements in the Fall at PLU. I imagine that those that only have to take one Religion class is because they have finished the AA or are entering with more credits. But oh well, at least I know my spot is saved for Spring Do you have your AA already? And have you already had your advising appointment? Sarah.b---- any news?
  6. Devlia, will you be taking that religion course with Nursing Competencies? Are there any other classes that you are starting out with? I'm just curious what the work load will be like.
  7. I have been accepted for Spring also.
  8. Devlia, did you sign up for a religion course for fall? I have my appt with advising on Friday but I looked at the schedule and the classes seem to be filling up. Don't know if I will get in.
  9. sarah.b, I think devlia is right. You sound like you have pretty solid stats, I'm sure its only a matter of time before you get the call. But I know how nerve wrecking that is. Does anyone know about the required religion class? I haven't heard from the school that I would be required to take it, but I have read about it from others on this forum.
  10. My acceptance was for Spring 2014. But on the acceptance letter that I signed and returned, I checked the box that said I was willing to enter in the Fall if there was a space open (and if I am ready). I wonder why I didn't get a call and only got a letter? Oh, well.......
  11. Yay!!! I'm so happy for you all! sarah.b Im sure your acceptance is coming, call them to find out if it was the nursing office.
  12. ^^ Sorry for the spelling mistakes. I was in a hurry to post and did not check before I submitted my comment (and cant figure out how to go back and edit).
  13. Sorry for such a late response people. Im super busy with classes. But yes, my letter says I need to respond my May 10th with my decision. The letter came in a regular white envelope and was quite thick. I thought it was a rejection letter but then realized it wasn't (obviously). I am finishing up pre reqs this qtr and have to take chem in the summer. So my letter is contingent upone completion of those classes with atleast a 3.0. My over all GPA is 3.75. I wish all of you the best of luck and hope you receive your letters this week :) Keep me posted!
  14. CHECK YOUR MAILBOXES!!! Ok so I've been stalking this forum for a while now but just have not commented. I got a letter of acceptance today from PLU SoN and I am so excited!!!
  15. Any word back yet? When will you know how you did? Thats terrible about others cheating. But that seems to be something I am realizing everywhere I turn. People are not always as honest as they should be. Dont let it get you down though. You tried your best WITHOUT the extra time and cheating.
  16. Thank you so much everyone. I will take all of this into consideration. It makes me feel waaaaaay better now that I know its not so bad. :)
  17. If you are worried about money, I would go the ASN route in order to get into a job faster and cheaper schooling. And then if you are still up to it you can go for a BSN.
  18. I am sure you'll do great! Things are always easier said than done. However, just stay calm and remember that those other people are just like you- human. Remember, you are there because you are just as qualified as anyone else!
  19. Oh my, you sound like me. I think you are worrying too much about the small things that can be taken care of as you go. Dont stop yourself before you start. You have come this far, dont quit now. Im sure your husband will understand. I have done my best to make sure that my husband is aware of all the things he will be responsible for once I am in nursing school. He is ok with it. I would choose the one that I want to do most. Personally, I think you should go the RN route because there are so many avenues in nursing. You could always do an ADN and then continue on for your bachelors in social work. Anyway, thats my opinion. Whatever you choose, I am sure you will do just fine. Just take one day at a time. :)
  20. I am quite good at memorizing in my opinion. I have heard from other students as well that A&P is alot of memorization. Where I live Anatomy and Physiology are together, A&P 1 and A&P 2. I hope that I can do well in those.
  21. Is he saying you can't do it or he just doesn't believe you should? Because those are 2 different things. Have you asked him exactly why? What is he concerned about?
  22. Truly inspirational! Dont give up! I am 23 and have 2 kids of my own and 3 step kids. I am in my prereqs right now and I am worried about facing these same issues. It makes it alot easier when I know I am not the only one who feels this way. Either way you are getting your education. The good thing is you are not wasting your time. Any kind of degree, especially in Health is a good investment in my opinion. lizbee, dont give up either! It will happen as long as you keep at it! I heard from one of the girls in my class (who is from Vegas), she said UNLV is easier to get into than colleges in Washington (where I live). I am definately a mover, I will go wherever I can get in. If you are willing to move for school and have the ability to do so, go for it! Start looking into schools outside of your area. It will pay off in the end. Thats my
  23. Thanks everyone! Ok maybe I made a mistake.... apparently its General Chem but my book said Organic chem, which is why I thought it was organic. Either way, I understood the lectures for the most part. The tests were just very tricky. BUT my next chem class is Chem 131 Organic/Bio. So that will be my next challenge. I live in Washington and most nursing schools that I know of require 131.
  24. Great question! Something I have been wanting to ask also! I live in Washington and have heard from some that BSN is the way to go. I spoke with an RN a few weeks ago (I work at a hospital), and I asked her the same question. She said "They are still hiring ADNs. They have said that about BSN for a while but ADNs are still getting hired". For me, I am going wherever I can get in. Financiall ADN would be ideal, but BSN is where I want to be in the end.
  25. Ok, so I just finished my Organic Chem class with a 3.0 (85%). Which is the minimum needed for nursing school. I was so disappointed. But what can I do? I really dont want to retake it, but will if I have to. If I can barely pass chem with a 3.0, what is to come when I start my A&P series?? I am concerned that this is not the right path for me if I can barely pass my science classes. What do you think? :uhoh21:
