Passed My First Excelsior Test!!!
Are you using study guide 101? I accidentally printed Health Differences. I would be willing to send it to you, if you think it would be helpful. You would just need to purchase the notes from sg101, so I wasn't breaking any rules.

Anyone from Oregon?
I live in Southern Oregon. I just went back to school in January. I have my B.S. in Anthropology. I am applying to the LPN program that starts next January, so I am a ways behind you. I plan to go the Excelsior route. Currently I am taking a CNA course through a LTC. The lady that interviewed me is almost done with the course work for Excelsior, and I have a friend who tests in Wisconsin at the end of the month. Please keep posting about what you decide. I would love to hear your experience.

Have you been discriminated against?
It is nice to know that employers are not too concerned where you went to school. Have any of you gone from working in a LTC to working in a hospital. Did you feel prepared? I know that many people say that you learn the most on the job, but I worry about my chances of getting my foot in the door. Also, I worry about my confidence in the hospital setting, since it will be unfamiliar.

Have you been discriminated against?
Thank you for your honest reply. It is true that when the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Have you been discriminated against?
I was talking to some classmates of mine (prereqs) tonight about my plan to do the LPN program, and then do an distance education program to get my RN. They all strongly suggested that I didn't follow that path. They warned that I would be discriminated against both in getting a job at the hospital, and by my coworkers. Has anybody experienced this? I have been concerned about my opportunities at the hospital anyways, since all my LPN experience will be at a LTC. Has anybody that has traveled down this road experienced this?

CPNE this weekend
I am sorry to hear that things didn't go as planned. I am proud of you also. You are not sending out any negative energy. You are not giving up. You are a fighter, and you will pass the CPNE. For some reason this wasn't your time, but next time is. You will do great. Thanks for sharing your experience. I was feeling a little defeated with all the school work I have to do today, and you just helped motivate me to keep on going. Thank you, and good luck to you.

How would you compare?
How would you compare taking A&P and Micro at the same time to the rigor of nursing school?

Questions before enrollment?
I know that you are able to take 2 of the nursing courses before entering into the nursing program? Does this mean I can take them before becoming an LPN? I will have 3 months between finishing my prereqs ad starting my LPN program. Would I be able to take micro or one of those nursing courses, without paying the enrollment fee?
