Coastal Alabama Community College Nursing Program Fall 2017
Just found out that there were people who haven't received a letter yet and called up to the school to find out their status. So for those who haven't heard anything it wouldn't hurt to give them a call because there's things that have to be turned in on the 10th and orientation is on the 12th of this month.

Call in issues HELP
Thank you all for your advice, I believe its time for me to move along, I've been unhappy there for a while now. My anniversary date is in October I haven't taken my vacation yet which I planned on doing so next month and I have a little over 40 hours of sick time available. I'm going to take time this weekend and seriously go on the search, its time for me to stop making excuses for me to stay there and be happy again!

Call in issues HELP
So I'm going to try to make this short as possible. I've been a charge nurse at my current job at a LTC facility for almost two years. It was my first job after nursing school and I I've been there ever since. With that being said I am a very dependable person and in fact I always would work over, doubles and come in early when needed. Our call in policy is standard policy call in must be made within two hours of your shift. I've called in 3 times since working there once for an unexpected death of an immediate relative and the other two for being sick with a doctors excuse and I always gave at least a 8 hour notice or more so they would have plenty of time to get coverage you know because I actually care about my co workers! But now I'm fed up and im tired of feeling like I been ran over I made a wrong move with my back the other day and been trying to work through it but today after leaving work I decided that I need to take a day to really get it looked at. But I'm told, " well i understand you're in pain but understand that we are in a bind and if I can't find anyone to work for you then I am going to expect for you to come in to work tonight! Like really I was so pissed I was left speechless all I could do was cry and wish that I can just quit on the spot. But unfortunately I have to work and need my job and I'm a sucker for allowing myself to be subjected to this type of treatment. I mean All nurses is this even okay? What if I say no I'm not coming and bring up the policy and thats it?

Jefferson Davis CC Fall 2016?
JDCC and Bishop are some what unorganized from what I hear from friends that's in their mobility program now so I wouldn't be surprised if its a last minute thing. I know that at JD some students got last minute clinical assignments and placement BC there is a great need of sites and instructors that they will be still going to clinicals passed the last day of school and after finals for the summer, so just be patient, and prepare yourself mentally, emotionally and financially because you're going to need it Nursing school is a lot of work and it goes by so fast that you are going to hope for more time for everything so just prepare youreselves.

Nurse forced to work as a CNA
Yes it can be done I myself often volunteer to work as a CNA if shifts are available to do so to get the overtime I want if I can't get it working as a nurse. I enjoy it being the fact that it gives me a break from having soooo much responsibility on my shoulders and it feels good to be able to leave on time and get paid the same.

Update I passed NCLEX PN!
So I took my test Tuesday morning OCT.14th did the PVT trick Several times throughout the afternoon kept getting the good pop up. Wed. October 15th at around 8:30am I checked my State's BON site and did a license lookup and put my name in and there it was my name and license number!!!!! Im grateful and happy that I passed this test especially on the first attempt but at the same time I feel like it hasn't really hit me yet. I searched and stared at my name several times in awww. Like man I made it!!!! Its been a journey!

NCLEX PN
Saunders is great for review of the content books like Kaplan NCLEX PN 2014 test taking strategies is good for learning about test how to figure out the question and what's its asking and how to answer. Good luck

NCLEX PN
I read Kaplan a couple of times did the practice questions and went through the rationale. I read through that 35 page study guide that's been floating around, I mainly focused on reviewing the main basic content like the different precautions, drug endings, fluid s and electrolytes and acid base. I skimmed through my adult health text and Saunders review book. I didn't go through the tests online from Saunders bc we used it throughout our program for tests grades. I also went back through Ati practice tests, our program also used Ati heavily. And that was it. I didn't study everyday all day just a few days out the week I felt like I didn't do enough before going in. I wouldn't say my test was easy it just wasn't as tricky or hard as I expected it to be. I had 195 questions I had 2 hrs left. I had like 30 or more SATA Which in school wasn't my strongest point!!! A lot of praying and trusting and believeing in myself. And stayed calm and relax!

Last Semester
They were awarded a needs based scholarship and some pell but bc of the new regulations regarding the summer and since its a technical school they base the reward off of contact hours and not credit hours. They were told at the last minute that their award and scholarship were either taken away or reduced. They due offer a deferment where you pay a $40 fee upfront and they give you till midterm to pay the rest. But for some madeup reason the school decided to force those students who owed more than $500 to pay over half there balance by next week which for most is $600 atleast and the remaining at midterm July 1st. I know it sounds crazy and like its more to it but really its the school. The nursing program is great but the business office and administration needs alot of work. I can write a book about it but This is my last semester and Im thankful that I don't have to deal with that office again!
