Greater Johnstown LPN Program
I looked into this program & I think it was around $12,000 or so. I had done a & p & I think nutrition so I wasn't going to have to pay the full amount. I ended up going to Ccbc which is slightly closer to me. I looked at pti and thought it was very nice but it seemed way expensive. I do know nurses that went there & aides currently going there that have been very happy with the program. Best of luck to you! :)

LPN Programs near Pittsburgh
Thanks for your input! Im not sure right now and am planning to apply for the rn program at st margarets for feb. GJCTC and PTI are both 12 month programs. I could bypass a few classes with both of them. The Rn program is 19 months and seems pretty intense but I know in the long run worth it!

LPN Programs near Pittsburgh
I was originally going to go to UPMC St Magaret's but they just did away with theirs. I took the test for ccbc although it seems quite competitive and I passed the test but didnt score super high. Looking at gjctc and pti as a last option (due to the cost). wondered if anyone had any opinions or experience with these or any others around?

LPN Programs near Pittsburgh
Hi! I was looking into going to LPN school in the Pittsburgh area. I actually live north of the city. I was supposed to go to UPMC St Margaret and they closed the program. Was wondering if anyone else knew anything about any of the other programs around. I am currently looking at GJCTC in Monroeville. This program concerned me slighly b/c they appear to not be accredited by the NLN. Any thoughts or info is much appreciated! :)

What skills did YOU get at the CNA state exam?
We had a written test and then the skills portion. I was so ridiculously nervous! I had radial pulse, hand washing, nailcare and transfer with gait belt from the bed to wheelchair. I live outside of Pittsburgh, PA.

Greater Johnstown LPN Program
Thanks for the response! Its been hard to find out much about the LPN programs. I went in last week for the interview and handed in my application for the October start date. The counselor said she would recommend me and they would let me know sometime this week if I was accepted. I am so glad to hear that it has worked out for you. I have been so frustrated over the UPMC St Margaret thing, I can't even tell you! I was also looking into to CCBC and PTI. I didn't see any other schools around. I know how important support is. My husband is good that way too. I haven't decided how much I will work. I am currently a CNA and kind of wanted to keep that going if I could for the experience

Interview tips
I had an interview for a CNA position a few months back. I had next to no experience in healthcare but am starting nursing school in the spring. I first had a phone interview with HR, then background check and eventually I went into the facility for the face-to-face interview with the HR manager and head nurse. It was mainly an extension of the phone interview and what they called a behavioral type interview. I was expecting much worse but it was mainly giving other experiences I had to certain questions they would ask me. Most of them were like have you had to multi-task at a job in your past or give an example of a time when you went above and beyond what was expected of you at a job, etc etc. Guess it went well b/c they offered me the job within a few hours and I am currently going through with the training. Best of luck to you! I know it can be a challenge but I agree, just be yourself, talk a lot and be confident!

PCT/CNA phone interview in 1 hour!
Hope it went well! I had that same experience a few months back and was so nervous! I ended up getting the job a few months later and am now going through the training.

CNA work
You have a wonderful attitude. I know people look down on the job but it is a wonderful thing to be doing! I am just becoming a CNA after my training is completed in a few weeks and am starting school to be an LPN in April. I feel fortunate that I was able to get a CNA job this soon. I think it will be wonderful on the job training and prepare me for nursing.
