  1. @shaemarie, the nursing orientation in the Fall is mandatory. If you don't show you lose your spot. Thats when they do Camp I Can. I am starting 4th Semester in the Fall.
  2. I myself and several of my friends were transfers that had never even been to Gordon before, and I don't feel like they have made it hard on us in any way:)
  3. I did not have to take this test until i was in the program and made about the same as you. Google up some resources that will help you improve your critical thinking skilld FOR NURSING. even if you et in, cause the test will be given again at a later date
  4. probably wont be able to get back to this thread any time soon so i am just going to lay out some info and go, and you all will know for yourselves by the time finals are over and i will just come back and read. advice for those that do get accepted: do not be afraid of your professors, but do be humble, they know alot, and they love to teach, respesct all of them no matter what, and they will respect you as well. go to them if you need help not someone that dont know. they will help you in any way possible. if you dont do well on your first test or wvwn if you do you can go to aim meeting and there is a wealth on consolidated must know knwoledge that is shared at these meetings. 1. goodle nursing test questions. nclex type, and start getting familiar with them. go to gordons library if your a student( and even if not) check out a few books from the nursing area, like fundamentals got it after i started the program, needed it the summer before. 2. teach yourself now how to do the dosage cal. gordon dose not teach it, but instructor will help you if you need it. they are all awesome. 3. start practicing or imagining yourself as a nurse in the field and how you need to conduct yourself, and start going to slideshare . net and looking at some of the power points others have made about nursing skills and fundamentals. 4. know maslow as it pertains to nursing and the nursing process. just start reading. 5. get a rolling book bag and a ipad if possible. 6. start now learning your medications( you can google pharmacology for nursing and most sights have the important things for nurses to know. 7. practice practice practice skills on any one who will let you, (no shots please) just simulation, or bp, listen to hearts and lungs ( internet will provide assessment info) 8. know your lab values!!!!!! abgs cbc vitals go ahead and read up on fluid and electrolytes and hematology. most important love it live it be a good nurse>>>> i am more easily reached through direct email, but you will need to send me a private message on here to get that. for those who dont make it in this time!!!!!! guess what? its ok dont, give up, give it time. i got a letter last spring that said i was not accepted and although sad i was ok. then 3 weeks later around mothers day i got another later saying they were able to extend the list and i made it. if you did not do well on the critical thinking test that may be why you didnt et in so, google critical thinking in nursing and learn to convert your thinking process. you do critical thinking everyday, you just gotta see that and do it more.
  5. I did not have to take it last fall until after I was already in the program, but my best advise would be, google critical thinking practice test for entrance exam related to nursing school. i dont remember what was on it. I could also say if you have an I phone get yourself a couple of those free NCLEX RN apps or at least a cheap one, and try answering some of those questions, when you get it wrong READ THE RATIONALE as to why. It will build your Critical thinking. The Critical thinking test is not a knowlege test, its a kind of predictor that says you would either be able to think your way out of a situations quickly. Or make a rational guess quickly. Hope this helps.
  6. cassandra13, first off i must say that the professors are absolutely amazing. wish i could say i that every single day was peaches and cream, but like someone else has already told you, time management is a huge key! you have to learn very early that this is not your average class where you binge and purge information, you need to understand what your learning. go ahead and think of yourself as a nurse, and that these are things you will be doing and need to know to care for a client. be very organized from day one! be disciplined in your studies, just like you would make a doctors appointment/or hair appointment and expect to be there for hours, schedule your study time, and let nothing stop that. study groups of no more than three, work best. plan your life around school not school around your life. do you have kids, are you married??? there are 10 million things i could tell you, the next person will tell you what stood out to them and it will be different, and so on and so on. make it your own experience, and love every minute of it. stay positive....
  7. The scrubs do have to be ordered throught he school and the Lab coat, I think in total iy was around 70ish with Magnetic Name tag included in that fee. Word to the wise if you normally wear Large, order medium, the items run kinda big! You will also need to have a nice pair of clean white tennis shoes, they will explain more about that, or just email your contact about that early on.
  8. There were a few students that did register for other classes along with Nursing 1901/pharm1922, and winded up either quiting all of them or dropping most at midterm! Its nearly impossible to do unless you have a photographic memory and plan to do nothing else, not even answer a phone:) I was registered for a class and was told at Camp I Can to drop it now!
  9. Same here, I just finished up first semester also, so fire away with all the questions. Soon as we start back in January its unlikely we will have time to check on these posts:)
  10. I am in the program, just finished first semester:)
