Bellarmine Accelerated Nursing Program May 2014
I would definitely buy the Second Edition of the Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens book by the National Safety Council. ISBN # 978-0-07-338288-3. That will tell you everything you need to know to pass that competency. I would also buy Calculate With Confidence by Gary Morris 5th edition and look over the basic conversions in Chapter 8. That will help you pass the math competency. I'm not good at math and I have to say math was the easiest, with medical terminology being the hardest for me personally. The medical terminology sheets will probably be given to you at your orientation a month in advance on a USB drive. At least that's how it was for our class. If you're worried about the medical terminology, there's always Mosby's Medical Terminology flash cards on Amazon!

Bellarmine Accelerated Nursing Program May 2014
Hi all, I am currently in the 1 year accel program at Bellarmine and am finishing up the first session this week. The program thus far is tough but doable. We had three competencies (bloodborne pathogens, math, and medical terminology) the first week of classes and were given the material about a month in advance to study. I highly recommend starting the studying process for these early! Some of my classmates in other sections waited until the last minute and did not take these seriously. They are no longer in the program as you must get an 80% or higher on each in order to continue in the program. If you do not get an 80% the first time, you may retest, but on the second try you must achieve a 90%. If you do not receive a 90 or better you can finally retest a third time but you must achieve a 100%. If by the third try you do not receive a perfect score you must withdraw from the class. We started out with 120 (the biggest class ever) and are now down to about 110 I think. Several students have chosen to drop down to the two year program and work at a slower pace. As a procrastinator myself, I can say that this program is a procrastinator's dream, because you have to be on top of things at all times if you want to succeed! If anyone has other questions about the program, feel free to email me at [email protected]

Need help with University of Northern Colorado (UNC) BSN program
Thanks for the helpful information Sand Dollar. After looking at the prereqs for the accelerated program, it looks like i'll still need to take pharmacology, biochemistry, and the more indepth medical nutrition class. Since I am from Ohio, I am trying to take these three classes locally. Do you suggest taking medical nutrition online through UNC. Also I'm not sure where I should take Biochemistry or if I should talk to someone in the nursing department to find a Biochem class near me that will transfer to UNC. Also, where are some good neighborhoods to live in Greeley? Thanks! -Alyssa

Information on CO nursing schools?
Hello all, I am an out of state student interested in applying to CSU-Pueblo, University of Northern Colorado, and Metro State for next year. Is there anyone who is currently enrolled in these programs or anyone who has graduated that could offer additional insight? What GPA will make me competitive? Is one school better than the others? What are the NCLEX passing rates and how many students are admitted each year? Thanks!

Bellarmine accelerated BSN program
Hello all! I have been accepted to BU's Accelerated Program for the May 2012 cohort. I was wondering if any current/past students could give me an honest answer to this question. I also applied to Saint Louis U, and Bellarmine was my first choice until I read something in another thread on this site that really concerned me. Is it true that Bellarmine has a drop out rate of over 50% for the 1 year program Or is that just a rumor? Do most people drop out during the first semester and if so, why? Just wanted to clarify this before I make any final decisions! Thanks so much!

Saint Louis University SLU?!
For anyone who has already been accepted...is it already too late to apply? I looked at their website which states there is no official deadline. Also, would any of you be willing to share your cumulative GPA? Do you know what is the average GPA or how many students applied/were accepted in previous years? Thanks!

2012 SLU Accelerated Nursing Cohort
Hello all! I was wondering if any other hopeful RNs are applying/have applied to Saint Louis University's 12 month accelerated nursing program starting in May 2012. For those of you who have graduated from the program or are currently in the program--could you provide any inside information on the admissions process, what the admissions committee is looking for, etc....do you know approximately how many students apply and how many are accepted? What GPA will make me competitive and how much emphasis did they place on your GPA in the admissions process? I have two solid letters of recommendations from former professors secured and I feel like I have a strong personal statement as well. However, I only have a 3.205 GPA (and am an undergraduate non-degreed student) which puts me at the bottom of the totem pole so to speak! I searched around a bit but couldn't find any specifics on these topics. Thanks so much!
